Excellent value for money, and hydro-phobic
These pads definitely work as they are supposed to. They absorb oil(s) and reject water, and are an excellent value considering how well they work. When left for a few hours or days they will absorb high amounts of oil, i measured 20 oz in one sheet alone, so close to the specified amount. They are fairly soft, and pliable enough to use for all sorts of cleaning and pickup jobs. I agree with other reviewers that they are not as pliable and some high-end brands, but they are not particularly stiff, and work well for pick up from floors, bilges, tanks, etc. They also work well for scrubbing/cleaning jobs, such as bilges, and cleaning hands, tools, engines etc. They do not shed many fibers, which can be an issue with cheaper pads, so cleaning engine parts is easy and does not leave fibers in the parts (assuming suitable pressure is used). They float on water, and absorb oil from sea water. Some reviewers have complained about such pads not picking up coolant. Perhaps they are unaware that coolant has no oil in it, just water and glycol based chemicals, and dyes. These pads will not work, but they will remove any oil that is mixed with the coolant. Use regular cleaning cloths, towels etc for coolant.Such oil pads will also not get oil out of concrete, only from the surface. As concrete is porous the oil seeps into it, you will have to use chemicals and/or a pressure washer to lift the oil out. But these pads will absorb the oil once it has risen to the surface of the concrete. Use these pads as a preventative measure to stop oil getting into concrete instead. You can recycle a large percentage of the oil in a sheet by squeezing it out, but i would never reuse such oil in any equipment. Best to send it to the local oil recycler instead.

Oil pads
I have a 58' boat and the engine room has oil in the bilges. These will soak up the oil. My goal is to be oil free bilges.

good value
These absorbent pads work just fine for what I need. I didn't give it a 5-star because I rarely do.

Inexpensive oil pads
I have previously bought this sort of thing from West Marine or other similar suppliers. They charge several orders of magnitude more for them.Knowing that many other cruisers (we live and cruise full time on a sailboat) face the same issue, and being in a place with many such boats, I ordered this bale.None of us have the room aboard for storing that many. But nearly any of us have room for maybe 20 of them.So I got them and offered them to other cruisers at a deep discount from what they'd otherwise pay (less than a third of the 5-pack, and a quarter of the single price); the first bale went in a couple of days, so this is the second one.I make back my investment and a pittance for my trouble but help out fellow cruisers along the way. Win-Win.Others who actually need that many pads will find this very affordable, of course. My only complaint is that it was priced a tiny bit under the free-ship pricing - so I ordered a trifle that I needed anyway, and both arrived in good time...

The pads are a fiber mesh, the pads break apart and cause a separate issue when cleaning up.
