Good Knife
I got the caper style knife in and have zero complaints. It's extremely light, thin (may be too thin for some), and extremely sharp (shaving out of the box). It has a good grip and plenty of handle, should make a really great detail knife or even a utility knife if one chose to. It seems like maybe it's a competitor for the Izula market, Gerber isn't listing it that way but having an Izula I can see the similarities. It locks up well and releases easily from the sheath, which is very durable and well made. This is another point in where it reminds me of an Izula. Really the biggest difference between the two would be the Gerber has a longer handle and different steel choice. I know I keep going back to another knife but that 's really what I think about every time I hold this Gerber, and it isn't a bad thing. The Izula is a fantastic knife and the Gerber has a lot of the same great things of that design but with a longer handle and a lower price. Really for all you get for below $50 (around $35 at time of review) it's a good deal. The only thing with this knife is to understand what you are buying. This is a 7Cr steel, which is similar to a 440a so it may need sharpening often. It's a decent steel overall but is a budget steel, compared to other offerings there are. I'm not a snob on knife steel, my favorites are usually 1095, which have to be kept oiled or they will rust. 7Cr won't have the rust issue as it is more of a stainless steel. It is however more prone to chipping, so be aware this isn't for extreme hard use. I'm not sure about Gerber's heat treat process (which is what makes or breaks knife steel) but I've had several Gerber knives and had no issues. This knife should hold up well for a long time as long as it's used properly, which is as a knife, not a prybar, or screwdriver and such. The knife is fairly thin which lends great to fine detail work but means you have to watch how the blade is used to not damage it. Overall I'm really impressed with it and look forward to using it this year during hunting season.

Gerber XO Caper
Nice compact thin knife. The sheath is VERY SECURE. In fact, it is so secure that it is really hard to overcome the plastic notch that engages the top of the blade. In fact, after purchasing this knife and inserting it in to the sheath, it took me a frustrating amount of time, to figure out how to get it out of the sheath. Poorly designed set up. Otherwise I would have given this five stars.

Very orange, you won't lose this in the wild
Aside from its extremely orange handle, you're not likely to lose this because of the way it fits into its sheath. I wanted a knife for my long hikes, for protection but more to be able to grab it if I were to fall and not be able to get into my pocket or backpack. Neck knives need to be quick release, yet secure in the sheath and this knife offers both of those qualities. The blade itself is sharp enough and looks as if it'll last a while before needing to be sharpened again. I found the design very comfortable in my hand easy to maneuver. I'm not sure why I thought it would be smaller, I do prefer a smaller neck knife and so this will go on my belt where it is, for me, the perfect size. The ability to add other tools to the sheath is a cool idea but I doubt that I'll take advantage of that feature (but one never knows) because I like the feel and size of this knife/sheath combo and would not want to ruin the feel by adding more layers. But it's nice to know that's an option if I wanted to explore that avenue. I'm very pleased with all of the aspects of this knife and know that if I drop it, I'll like;y find it quickly.

A knife worthy to be on your belt or you kit rather than in your safe
A well made knife, altho only with 7cr steel tho (a chinese budget steel). It may not be the top of the line steel, but 7cr's benefits are easy to maintain/sharpen, hold an edge ok, and it is the low cost enough that will not break the bank. So you are more likely that you will actually use this knife rather than just babying it in your trophy case. This Gerber EXO-MOD Caper Fixed Blade comes razor sharp with a sheath that fit and tightly captured the knife. Full tang, 1 piece design, seems durable. Feels very good in you hand. This EXO-MOD series consist of this smallest "Caper" knife, then a larger "Drop Point" knife, and a "SAW". Their sheaths supposed to be able to "snap" together to create a "kit". Pretty innovative idea. Gerber is a respectable brand, they make good stuffs, and also stand by their products; so, this knife is backed by a limited lifetime warranty (in NA). Overall, I am very impressed with this knife, and I am considering getting the rest of series to complete the kit. Thank you for reading this review, I hoped that this review & the pictures are helpful to you in support of your purchase decision.

feather light
This knife surprised me at how light it is, I mean it doesn't even feel like you are holding anything, the case is light as well but both are very tough. I'm actually going to be using this and mounting it to my ROPS on my tractor so I have a knife at the ready for bailing twine, etc as I'm out in the fields. This thing is great.

Husband loves this knife!
I ordered this knife for my husband to use when he goes hunting and he loves it! He likes the lightweight hollowed out design and the sheath as well. It’s easy to wear and doesn’t add bulk when hiking around. It stays sharp and doesn’t nick or scratch easily. The bright orange makes it easy to find as well. All in all, it’s a great knife and I would buy it again!
