Short Battery life, but very convenient.
UPDATE October 2, 2017.Have used this lock 9 months now, and I love it updating my review, and adding 1 more star. This truely is a great lock, and even better paired with the WINK HUB. I orginally had an issue with the batter life being too short, and the battery life indicator only dropping to 95% before loosing power. I believe te WINK HUB may have updated something to reduce the burn on my door lock batteries, and my second set of batteries not only lasted 6 months, but the battery level indictor now appears to show a true battery level. 6 months may not seem like a long time, but my particular lock is unlocked and locked dozens of times a day, and I have it configured to auto lock if left open for more than 30 seconds, which is probably does many times a day as well.I've noticed several older reviews mention a subscription requirent for zwave connections. I'm not sure what that is about. I do not have any subscriptions. I connected my lock to my WINK HUB, and from there I can manage door codes, view activity, remotely lock and unlock, etc..., without a subscription. With the Wink HUB, I can also also ask Alexa to check whether the door is locked, and ask Alexa to lock it******* Original Review left on March 15, 2017 *******Works great, and was easy to install. The lock I was replacing was installed over 25 years ago, and did not have a reinforced strike plate, so I did have to chisel out a deeper space for the strike plate. If you have never done this before, it is much easier than you think with the right tool and youtube video to follow. I did not have to make any other adjustments to the door or frame, and everything fit perfectly. It did not take much time to install.I am using this lock with the Wink system. It is much, much easier to manage the lock using Wink, including user codes, auto lock, vacation mode, etc.Pros: Easy to install; User codes eliminate the need for door keys; The key pad stays clean (no visible finger prints); With Wink, it's very easy to manage the lock, even when you are not at home. The door itself starts chirping when the batteries need to be changed.Cons: The battery life indicator in Wink is not useful. We've only seen the battery level as low as 95% before the batteries are too low to operate the lock; Battery life has been very short (3 months), however, I'm sure the battery life will vary depending on how you use it. Our Lock is connected via z-wave to our Wink system. We have auto lock enabled, and autolock probably runs at least 8 times a day.Overall, for all it's conveniences, I'm more than happy to change the batteries 4 times a year.

Great lock and a quality of life improvement with easy touchpad entry!
I wouldn't normally have much to say about a lock, but this is a quality of life improvement. I purchased this lock to replace the front-door lock in a newly purchased home. With the move we have converted from Iris to SmartThings and a smart front door lock seemed like a great place to start. The kit came with everything needed to get things going. Pairing was simple and if you can read the directions the install should not present any unexpected issues. Download the install manual or review it ahead of time to make sure you have everything before you pull the old lock. I did have to expand the bore-size to upgrade from the cheapie lock that was already installed.Installation in my older door frame was also a little problematic, not to the fault of the lock. The door was sticking badly in the frame preventing the deadbolt from seating correctly. This was a problem on the old lock, but it is a significant issue with the new lock's automatic functionality. I was able to trim the door frame back just enough with a wood chisel to smooth out the open / close and everything is now working great.I learned something about my habits with this lock. Controlling it via z-wave, while nice, is not my primary use-case (other than automatically locking it at night or on arming away. Having a responsive touch-screen combo lock on your front door is awesome! Going out for a run and not having to take your keys or leave the house unlocked is great. Just set a pin, hit the Schlage button when you leave the house and the door handles the locking all by itself. When you get home, either use your zwave product to unlock the door, or more quickly, just hit Schlage on the keypad and enter your pin at the lock. It's fast, it works, it's easy. In past homes I have deferred to the automatic garage door opener for easy entry to the house, now the front door is just as quick for keyless entry.Lock has been installed for just about two months now and still on the original batteries. No issues to report, but will update if problems arise.
