Does what it was designed to do. Easy to set up and use.
So my PC HDD has been acting up (it's 2006 HP with 320gb Seagate 3.5"). Considering its age and the fact that I use it EVERYDAY, it's been good to me so far. The tell-tale signs of HDD issues are extra noise, frequent HANG UP (aka DEATH BLUE screen with FROZEN everything where the only remedy was to unplug the power and reboot), slow responses. . . I've been guilty of not backing up data too. So I got a couple of 320gb HDD and this unit. The cloning process was a breeze (well except the fact that I accidentally used the FULL format instead of quick format which too extra time unnecessarily! That's entirely my fault). All new HDD needs to be formated (the unit comes with instruction to how to do that - CHOOSE quick format!) first. Once formated, it's just a simple matter of plugging the NEW (empty) in proper slot (double, triple check this!! you don't want the original to go into the clone slot - you will end up with 2 completely BLANK hdds!!) and put the original in proper slot. My 320gb took a bit over 1 hour to copy. I put the new cloned drive into my computer and it booted up with NO problem at all. I'm keeping the original HDD as my back up for now. I will also continue to back up the new HDD onto my other HDD I bought, so I will end up with 3 copies of the SAME thing. This unit also works as a HUGE memory stick (like a SD card) when you plug in the HDD and connect via USB. I've done that too. Overall, it works well. I'm just hoping that I can get 9 plus years out of it like my PC. . . We shall see

Excellent so far. Plug and Play.
To start with I'm running Windows 7. The docking station and two 2 TB Hard drives were automatically installed by Windows with no problem. The hard drives did dissapear after Windows had gone to sleep and woke up again. I tried unplugging the dock and then plugging it back in again and plugged it into a different USB port, but Windows would not find the docking station or hard drives attached to it again until I restarted Windows. I went into power management and turned of the option allowing Windows to go to sleep. After that the dock has never disconnected again. I then turned the dock off and swapped out the hard drives, turned it back on and Windows found the new hard drives and the docking station again with no problem. So, I think the first time I had problems was just a fluke, or because it was the first time the device had been plugged in. So far it is working great. I don't know for sure, I haven't bothered to test it out yet, but I suspect that the problem of it not waking up with the computer was also just a fluke, but I don't know because I turned the go to sleep option off in Windows. If you have a problem with it not waking up with the computer after your computer goes to sleep, then you can also go into device manager and right click all the USB hubs and click on preferences, then on the "power management" tab uncheck the box that says, "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". But again I'm not sure that it is even a problem to worry about. I'll update this review after I've let my computer sleep again and see if it wakes up.

Excellent drive cloner and also drive dock.
Used this to clone a hard drive for an arcade machine SSD that is pretty fragile and old. Was able to successfully clone the drive (500GB) in just a few short hours. Cloned a Samsung 850 EVO 500GB to a Crucial MX500 500GB with no problems. As long as the target drive is larger than your source drive, you should have no problems. The included instruction booklet/user manual is a bit misleading as it says to insert the source disk into HDD1 slot 1, but the target drive is marked as HDD1 slot on the physical unit. So ignore the instructions and just follow the source/target lettering on the unit. You NEED to flip the operation mode swich between Clone and PC BEFORE you power the unit on to properly detect the drives to do what it needs in each mode. Have no extensively tested PC mode, maybe in the future, i'll try it, but right now I am only using it as a drive cloner, and it works amazing. Crucial MX500 drive was cloned every bit for bit.

It's a really good product, friendly to use. I feel it's one of the products every hardware engineer must need. However, I feel it a bit expensive, it's just my personal feeling.

This device is fantastic. Not only is the build quality great (Some other versions can be quite flimsy) but I've managed to get HDD's recognized with this version that other caddies would simply ignore or recognize as RAW devices. It's great for cloning drives and does exactly what it advertises.
