Second purchase of this product. Works great.

It fizzes and smells kind of like a coal stove but it neutralized the rust
I needed this to clear up a lot of surface rust from the frame of my truck. I didn't have time to deal with the rust and I didn't want it to eat in to the metal any further. I bought this, put it in a cheap walmart garden sprayer and sprayed all the rusty spots down. It fizzes and smells kind of like a coal stove but it neutralized the rust. I was really impressed. It leaves a white, waxy layer that I believe can be pressure washed off before painting. Over all it is a good product and a real time saver, not to mention money. A cheap solution to an expensive problem. My wife has caught me wandering around looking for anything rusty to spray down, it's a little addicting to fix rust so easily. A gallon covers a lot because it is very thin like water and seems to react fairly strong to rust.

Seems to work...beware acid
My gallon arrived with NO LABEL and NO INSTRUCTIONS, just a bare plastic jug similar to washer fluid jugs. Nevertheless, I started using it, feeding into and spraying with plastic spray bottle, which hasn't melted down (still works) weeks later, containing the unused fluid. It's winter and semi-cold in my semi-warm garage, and this stuff barely dries overnight....I only saw a little "flaky leftover to remove" noted in other reviews, so that depends on what you've got or how well you prep. I spray painted my result with Rustoleum enamel. I don't expect that to last or stick forever. I'm trying to prevent rot on my 15 yr old truck frame/etc (not panels) AND the crappy/typical jack points and rocker panels on another car. Oh, forget to mention my 2006 truck/Tacoma got a frame replaced around 2014, so I paid dearly to buy it used in 2015. Tip one: cover your cement garage floor completely. Overspray that lands on cement will eat it somewhat, leaving a noticeable stain a few days later. Tip two: GET A POINTY-END small hammer. Common advice/wisdom says "wirebrush the metal to remove the loose rust". Wirebrush is great, best done AFTER tapping the heck out of the metal (all over, repeatedly for minutes even for a few square inches). Depends, of course, on your rust areas, but thick car/vehicle underparts rusted will have layers of flake to remove. Obviously? beware tapping to death the thinner/weaker metal on or around a rocker panel, jack area, etc.

It's working great on my '66 Mustang.
I've used a lot of rust converters and paints over the years with varied results. TotalBoat is easy to use and very effective, particularly for getting into tight areas like pinch welds and the insides of doors. An added plus is the very reasonable cost. A gallon goes a long, long way.

Great rust primer
Thank you for resending the rust primer. The first order never arrived. This product works very well.

Do not sand before using product
The product probably did it's job, but I sanding down the area to be treated prior to applying the product. I went out the next day after allowing the product to dry, only to find that the product caused areas that were treated to bubble and peeling the paint. It caused endless hours of additional sanding!

Better primer against rust
Why did you pick this product vs others?: I had tried the rustoleum product and rust came back in 24hra. This is so much better. No rust so far and it has been 4 months.

Rust inhibitor
I ordered this bc I needed work done to my car & had run out, we live in Maine, the roads are treated w/salt in the winter, not just rds but e'where including highways, arterials, side streets, so the salt is everywhere & it's very corrosive! This product will protect your vehicles & protect your car longer than without it, esp if you live in a place where salt is used or if you live in a place that is wet half the year. This product will outlive the wet seasons! My roommate uses it on almost all parts under the car & its usually always stocked in his shop, he couldn't find it in parts stores & getting it on amazon was a great deal! Using this in places you wouldn't think abt, esp under your car, brake lines, gas lines & almost any place that there could be potential for getting rust. It inhibits rust & will give a longer life to any part its used on! It's what he uses on all vehicles bc living in Maine, everything gets rusty from salt being put on rds, highways, arterials.
