Hilarious, touching and important
Cats VS. Robots is fantastic. So much fun to read, also deeply touching, super smart and crucial to understanding our identity as humans. Everyone needs to read it. And the illustrations are out of this world great!

Cute book for upper elementary
Fun sci-fi book with a message that labels should not define you. You can be whomever you want. Kids will love it.

Not going to hurt your kids
This book features a non-binary character and the authors spend a page and a half explaining what that means. There is no mention of sex. It's not crude. The character merely explains they don't feel like either a girl or a boy, that they don't want to be put into a box. The example given is "you're a girl so you must like pink and are bad at math", a not always (or even often) true statement. One reviewer said they talked about bathrooms as if that were a horrible thing. Every kid uses the bathroom. This character says it's not really an issue for them as most places have family bathrooms, meaning anyone can use it. Simple question. Simple answer. I'm a 62 year old grandma. I would be fine reading this with the grandkids. Makes a good conversation starter no matter your views. Plus its a really good story from a we'll respected children's author.

Hilarious with hints of real world issues
I read this book with my 7 year old son that loves cats. It’s funny, touching, caring and touches on todays issues. (Conflict resolution, big tech, being Non binary)Twins , Max and Min (STEM puns through out) save the world from a possible epic battle between intergalactic revivals Cats and Robots. The discussion of non binary was a good example of how so many people in todays society try and place you in a box, but cousin Javi does not conform to a box. (Example of discussion why their non binary. Oh your a girl so you must like cooking, the color pink and be bad at math. No thats not true. So you don’t fit in that binary box either.)Min is a great role model, she likes robots, programming and wants to work to NASA. Max is a problem solver with a big heart.Don’t let the 1 star reviews stop you from reading this book. It’s pretty funny. We read the second book as soon as we could get it too.

Idc about your gender identity
Book was fun to read to my daughter until it practically mansplained what being nonbinary was. 4 pages of it. It wasn’t necessary. I bought a separate book that goes into detail and is appropriate for my child when I plan on having that conversation with her next year. Placing it randomly in the middle of that book with no warning just wasn’t it.
