Walthers GP 15-1 BNSF
Item was received in excellent condition. No damage to engine. Engine runs really well and is quiet. I had it pull 12 freight cars with no problems. Paint scheme and markings are crisp and well done. Details are minimal but you can add more if you like. I've read previous reviews before purchasing this engine and was skeptical about it. Glad I got this engine. It's performance so far is very good especially for the price. Just a side note, this is my first engine from Walthers and I plan on getting a couple more in the future. IMO, it's a good value and a very good product. Also, this is a DC engine. I have not taken the shell off to see if it's ready for DCC. For budget modelers, this is a nice engine.

Slight modification for tight radius
Runs super smooth for the price, and the LED lighting is really pleasant offwhite color and realistic. No issues starting or unexpected stops. Others have said it can’t pull many cars, but I’m running it with 35 weighed, dialed-in, and lubricated roundhouse metal-wheel hoppers with no issues. My layout has a difficult switch immediately followed by an 18” radius curve. This throws a lot of prototypical engines off so I wasn’t surprised. This engine has a wonderfully prototypical coupler size. However I needed to install a 20mm length coupler that is longer than the short ones it comes with. This allows for a few more millimeters of movement so that the first car in the consist wasn’t thrown off the track in the troublesome section. It’s a straightforward change, but it’s the first time the change was needed on a 4 axel EMD. So just something to note, you’re better off with 22” curve minimums if you aren’t interested in the mod. I’m going to run it as stock for some time and then weather it. The real life 693 is easily found online for reference photos. Lovely hobby grade at a great price!

Good value for the money
I was very impressed with this Walther's Train Line GO15 diesel engine. It has a quiet running 5 pole motor with all wheel drive and directional lighting. While it is only DC, I imagine that converting it to DCC should not be that hard. The shell is removable from the metal frame with 6 screws. It is solidly built with plenty of weight and pulling power. While it doesn't have all the fine details of the more expensive models, I have to say that the paint and details on this product are very good. The packaging is good and the engine is well protected for shipping. Although the only disappointing thing was that mine was shipped to me with a shipping label on the product box without any additional outer packaging for protection from shipping damage. Also, anyone could see what the item was and fortunately I received mine without damage or issues.

On Of The Best Deals in Ho Engines
If you google a GP 15-1, Northfolk Southern chances are you will find pictures of this exact model and number. It’s not often that it is this easy to model the exact prototype. It’s a modeler’s dream to add after market details and weathering. It’s black plastic and not painted with the only paint being the Northfolk Southern’s logo. The body casings are extremely crisp because of this. The body is easily removed from the chassis with instructions and the hand rails appear to be easily removed with extreme care for weathering the body. The side trucks come off easily with care to weather and add detail. It includes K-D style couplers with the front and rear ends needing to be applied. The front is a snow plow. It ran smooth, strong and quiet on my test track. I’m old school modeler and don’t do DCC and this is just DC. I’ve never had a Walters Trainline engine and for the sale offered I thought I would give it a try. I couldn’t be happier with its quality and potential it presents. I’m looking forward to working on it making a good model great.

Good value
Was shipped by Amazon without a box, just put on a shipping label on the walthers container. When I took the locomotive out of its container the trucks were covered in oil. Had to wipe off all the excess. Runs fine, but is slow. Looks great.
