Great Paper to Practice Pastels With
Canson Mi-Tientes black pastel paper is a low cost way to practice pastel work. There are two sides to each piece; smooth and textured. The paper is 90 lbs which isn't that thick, but it does well with blending and takes a good number of layers. You have to use a fixative spay if you plan on keeping your works. I'm pretty new to pastels so this paper is great for me.

Nice papers
I’d rather have had a non-earth tone paper but I can print on them from my ink jet printer. Wish they were a bit thicker.

Still My Favorite Paper
I've been practicing with pastel pencils and soft sticks this past winter, and I bought this paper just to start out. I've since tried both sanded and velour papers, but the Canson Mi-Tientes is still my favorite. Love the tooth on it; it takes many layers of pigment and is sturdy and frameable. I'll be sticking with this paper for the duration! Highly recommend. "Sea Rose" 9x12 Pastel Pencils and Soft Sticks.

Love this paper
I bought two and hand sewed and bound them into a sketchbook. I love the that it's tinted since I don't like drawing or painting on white paper, and the paper holds up well when using colored pencil, oil pastel, acrylics, and gouache. I like that it has a slight canvas-like texture. There's no other paper that I would recommend more for pencil and pastel drawing.

Not a sanded surface
I think this paper would be great for pencil art , it doesn’t have enough tooth for soft pastels but would by great for pencil, ink type work. Although a lot of artists use the “ smooth” side with their pastels .
