Great TV with Andriod smart controls
Bought this model as i wanted the Andriod smart control which is excellent and really user friendly. TV turned up 2 days earlier than advised, which was a bonus!! Picture quality is great though the sound is acceptable, but a little 'tinny'. Will probably great a sound bar to solve the problem.

Issue with certain apps
This is my second Sony TV. First was purchased about 18months ago and is a 55 inch tv. Good sound, very good picture, good remote. All is good except the apps can take a long time to open and respond. When I wanted to upgrade our tv in the kitchen, I asked various sales people in a well known high street retailer and this tv was spoken about with gusto. My remit was the apps, speed of apps and variety of apps. I mentioned my 18 month tv being slow to open apps and I was assured this Android TV would be speedy and was probably best on market for price bracket. I purchased the tv based on the apps as we watch almost nothing but Netflix and Amazon and now, with the Tokyo Olympics, BBC iPlayer. Straight out of the box, iPlayer was exactly the same issue as my older TV: "An error has occured..." and it can take 3 or 4 attempts to get iPlayer working and quick Google searches indicate this is a Sony tv issue. Obviously, you should do your own research on this issue but it is a major pain to have to try multiple times to get a particular app to work. The tv and "yes" is up-to-date and reset in case of a glitch or caching issues but this is a brand new tv, straight out of box and shouldn't be happening. These days, the picture of your TV is going to be good no matter the brand and so other factors have become more important: sound, remote, speed and responsiveness and I woukd say I am less than impressed with the apps aspect. Sound is OK with the downward firing speakers but there is little depth. Remote control looks smart and of good quality. My rating is based on the apps which is very important for smart tvs.

Can’t beat a Sony
Ok so ended up buying elsewhere as I got a 6 year warranty and price match Wanted this TV for the bedroom and have a dinky A8 in the lounge Firstly 4 HDMI ports were important to me as is Android, simply love the apps and ease of use and it gives far better options than the boring normal channels Ok so it’s not OLED but I still think the picture is pretty good for the price and still looks good with the BLU ray attached this size 43 inch perfect for my bedroom, sound is fine for me and the remote although the older type works well and is easy to navigate Given the opposition at the size and price point I’d think twice about not choosing the Sony, it’s really very good !!

Non standard mounting point
If you want a TV with a non standard mounting point then buy this, you'll be amazed at Sony design team to mess things up.

Knowing where to look for features
I purchased one of the KD43XH8196's available on the market in late September and recommended by somebody 'in the know' about TV's. The issues I have been having is knowing where to look for one of the many features on this TV. Including Wide and I (for information) that I had on a previous remote control; to access 'whats on.' select ‘I’ and then, the 'Display' menu; and finally, the 'Jump' feature’ however, only works while watching programs in Iplayer for example. In between this interim period, I too, found the sound and the picture going haywire. This meant performing adjustments such as moving equipment around and positioning the router. So, while I remain a little disappointed with the purchase, it does have a brilliant sound feature when coming from the TV and many attractive apps in which to choose from; for example. In ‘Quick Settings’ is Picture Mode where the feature, ‘Vivid.’ is found; In comparison, the picture quality on some programs is also, brilliant. Despite the relevant issues, I remain satisfied with the product purchased and would have liked to have given this model, more than3 stars, yet doesn’t remain feasible at this moment of time.
