The Beach Bum [DVD] [2020]

So, those of you expecting some sort of plot driven comedy caper(like The Big Lebowski)will be sorely disappointed.The Beach Bum isn't that type of film. It's purely character driven, loose and flowing. Loose like his clothes, flowing like the amount of alcohol he pours down his neck.We follow the exploits of a man named Moondog, a dude who writes poetry and spends his life getting obliterated in the Florida Keys, soundtracked to classic Country and Rock songs. The whole film is a tribute, or an ode to excess & hedonism.Wild, yet laid back. This is a film to chill with. It has more depth than you think, but don't take it too seriously. To be perfectly honest I f*****g loved it.

This won't be for everyone, and there lies the beauty.This is funny, fresh and unique. Everyone cast member nails it. Harmony Korine continues to bring something new to each new project that comes his way. My advice to everyone, stop trying to find logic, surrender to THE BEACH BUM.

Irreverent, absurdist, stoner-genius-poet-bum drama, infused with comedy and tragedy.Brilliantly acted and directed, delivered in neon candy-dark smarty biscuit beauty.
