How to Wean Your Baby: The step-by-step plan to help your baby love their broccoli as much as their cake : Stirling-Reed, Charlotte: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: Helpful Step By Step Guide - I've recommended this book to anyone I've spoken to who's about to start weaning their baby. There's so much information available online/in books/from friends and family on when and how to wean your baby, and how to continue with the weaning process, and a lot of it contradicts other sources. I found this book incredibly helpful as a 'true north' and used it as my 'go-to' source for any questions I had about weaning. The book has 3 main sections. 1 - gives you a bunch of information on when to wean, equipment you might need, pros and cons on blw, when to introduce more meals, allergens, safe food preparation. Basically anything you need to know before you start 2 - step by step guide for the first 30 days of weaning. This takes all the thinking out of the first month for you if you want it. There's shopping lists and recipes for the first 30 days. We found ourselves free styling after a couple of weeks, but it was because this book gave us confidence on the kinds of things to introduce when 3 - recipes for when you're feeling more confident If you're wanting to get prepared to wean your baby I would 100% recommend buying this book. Review: All you need to know about weaning in one book. Recipes included. - The book is much more than I anticipated. My wee one is 9 months and following the author's Instagram account has been so helpful for our journey wiyh solids. Charlotte has done an excellent job to normalise the weaning experience, keeping it real and offering reassurance. The book also keeps a great balance between giving enough information, that is evidence based and following the latest health guidelines in the UK, and also conveying the key messages in a simple way that everyone can follow (I pay attention to these things as an academic 😳). I wish I had it back when we started weaning- I had to research a lot, talk to friends, colleagues, professionals etc. Now I have to latest information in one place- and the layout is fantastic too. I still found it useful, and reassuring, even at 9 months, and the recipes included are excellent for the whole family. I will definitely be recommending and also gifting this to friends.

Love it!
I've read a lot of the reviews that came with this product and was worried as some of the reviews said that the book came printed upside down, but to my relief my book came printed the right way so was very thrilled with that. The quality of the book is great, so far no problems and the information and step-by-step guide given is very helpful and to point, which I love! Tells you just what you need and some nice recipes as well to get you started with the weaning journey.

Clear and easy information
Purchased this book after it being recommended by a friend. First time Mum and therefore unsure of where to start with weaning. I found the day-by-day suggestions, as well as the introductory information about baby feeding, really helpful. I mostly followed the plan (changed foods to work with my normal cooking as I got further in), which was easy to do. My baby is now 13 months and is (so far!) a great eater. We still use some of the recipes. I’ve also purchased this book for friends for baby shower gifts, knowing that it’s practical and realistic to follow.

Great start to weaning for baby with some impracticalities
I’m using this book for my second baby and overall I love it. It’s simple to follow and I like the step by step guide which makes things easy if you’re not sure what to do. Also like that fact that the book encourages introducing lots of different vegetables with different tastes and textures early on. Hopefully this will mean my baby doesn’t become a fussy eater, I didn’t use this book with my first and kind of just winged it. Now as a toddler they are fussy, but only time will tell on whether my second is less fussy. Part of me think it’s just a developmental phase that all toddlers go through but we shall see… The reason I knocked one star off is because I think this book is a little impractical if you have more than one child with you at home. There’s a fair amount of prep work involved and you’re having to make separate meals for baby and toddler initially, and if you have a very busy and active toddler it’s difficult feeling like you’re in the kitchen a lot. I ended up making many ice cube trays worth of puréed versions of different vegetables but haven’t really been able to get through them yet as the book encourages trying something different every day. Which is great as baby is getting to try lots of different tastes but it’s hard work if you don’t have much time. I’ve got through days 1 - 20 and have got to the point where I think my baby is ready for 2 meals so I’m going to start using up some of my freezer stash. Toddler is due to start preschool in a few weeks so I can return to the book then as it’s getting to the point where you’re almost making mini meals for baby. I also think this book is good because a lot of these vegetables we don’t eat regularly as a family, so we will start including them and hopefully this will help the picky toddler too. Also bear in mind you need some kit in order to follow this book, I already had a food processor and hand blender for making soups so I used what I already had but if you don’t you may need to purchase something. Overall it’s a good book and I would recommend it.

Really useful guidance for weaning and feeding baby
I bought this book for my son and daughter-in-law for Christmas 2024, it was really helpful for going through the weaning stage, helped to answer so many questions they had, and for them to create a nutritious feeding plan. Was so useful I bought another copy for a friend. My granddaughter is now 15months and loves a wide range of foods, she will try anything and shows enjoyment in eating - I believe the guidance in this booked really helped to set her on a positive feeding path.

This was a helpful book for introducing solids to my baby. It isn't BLW (baby lead weaning) but rather a mixture of purées moving on to sideweent textured foods. The recipes are simple, the plan is easy to follow and there are family recipes at the back, which is useful for family meals.

This book is a quick read away from taking any confusion out of starting solid foods with your baby. It is informative, visually satisfying and my baby has had a positive start to solid food as a result of this book.
