Great purchase. Works as a regular umbrella or as a wind block on it's side. Easy to set up, easy to take down, the special stakes to hold the corners in the ground are genius too with large heads for the sand. I am able to go to the beach on a medium warm day with a lot of wind, set this up, and enjoy the sun without feeling but a gentle breeze. My only criticism is on a super windy day, the umbrella inside parts did bend a little bit. I think they sacrificed some sturdiness to make it as light weight as possible. Bought from the warehouse so extra cheap and an even better value.

Honestly, my expectations weren’t high and I’ve been pleasantly surprised how much we’re enjoying this umbrella. The setup and take-down is unmatched, SO FAST. The corkscrew on the pole will go several turns into dirt/grass and provides a great anchor point, add four more quick stakes into the ground and this thing is firmly planted in the ground. At the park when everyone else’s portable shelters were going airborne during a large gust of wind, our umbrella didn’t budge. We always leave the vented windows about 50% unzipped for more wind resistance. This thing is going to work awesome on the beach. On park days we put a blanket inside for our kids to nap and set a camping loveseat in front to enjoy the shade.

We have used for two soccer seasons and no issues yet. It has been great for shade and rain protection for our kids.

The umbrella is big and provides a lot of shade. Is compact when folded. And lightweight. Easy to transport. For the cost of this, I expected better stakes. The stakes that came with it bent with first hit. The head just totally bent over. I was putting them into lake sand. So it wasn’t crazy hard.

If you have an older version of this shade you won’t be happy with the new model. They really cheapened it up! The material is not the same, not near as good. No wind relief at the top so look out in the wind! No steel grommets for stakes. The steel pole that slid up inside was so much better than the plastic screw end making it harder to set up, take down and store. If they would’ve just left it alone I would’ve gladly paid more for the old design instead of cheaping it up and keeping it at the same price. My old shade is 12 years old and I don’t think this one would last one trip to the beach. Don’t waste your time buying this just to be disappointed at the beach and then you will be scrambling looking for something else.

The UV protection is also a significant plus, as I have peace of mind knowing that we're shielded from harmful rays.Another handy feature is the tilt mechanism that allows me to adjust the umbrella's angle as the sun moves across the sky, ensuring continuous shade without the need to relocate the entire setup. The inclusion of side flaps for extra sun protection is thoughtful and useful during the peak hours of sunshine.However, on particularly windy days, additional anchoring might be necessary to keep it grounded – a small concession for the overall benefits it provides.All in all, this XL Umbrella Shelter has been a fantastic investment for our soccer season. It's durable, user-friendly, and provides a haven from the heat, making those weekend games something to look forward to, regardless of the weather. A solid addition to any sports parent's sideline gear.

Works perfectly for beach

this is a very well designed and functional unbrella/tent. My beach chairs are high and yet I can sit in them under this umbrella when it is set up as a tent. the fact that it can be a tent or an umbrella is useful. If there is wind, you can use the tent stakes for extra support.Also, the designers included a piece that prevents the umbrella from flipping inside out in strong wind. Last, they included a metal bar on the lower piece that makes it easy to rotate the base deep into the ground.The only con I can think of is that the top is plastic and looks like plastic. Most of the Tommy Bahamas use plastic that looks like canvas.
