very pleased the tactile sandpaper
Exactly what i wanted. Teaches letters A-Z. Presents the letter with how to write and tactile sandpaper-feel. Has both the lower and upper case version. Then has "____ is for..." then open a flap to see two animals that starts with that letter. I was pleasantly surprised that the vast majority of the artwork was rather bright, engaging, and quality (a few were a bit cartoony). Was very very pleased the tactile sandpaper was not receded (as that can lead to paper cuts). Only cons are that the pages are a thinner cardboard which makes the pages more bendable and thus more damageable than most board books.... and that I (a biologist) had never heard of the U animals: urial and uakari... which appear to be a ram and a monkey. I also thought worm for w was sorta a cop-out given earthworm was already used for letter e. Should have done a wombat, woodpecker, wolf, wasp. warthog, or wallaby in addition to the walrus.

perfect for teaching children their ABCs
This book is perfect for teaching children their ABCs. Most children enjoy the "sandpaper" letters, and as a teacher, I particularly appreciate the inclusion of both the uppercase and lowercase letters. I've bought two copies for two-year-olds, one to use with a child who has visual impairments, and the other to use with a child who has speech delays. The high-contrast alphabet and lift-the-flaps encourage those children who have visual impairments to be curious, although the image are a bit small for interest. The child with speech delays particularly enjoys this book, especially when I combine it with a reward of a YouTube video for every letter pronounced. Saying "b", for example, is rewarded with a 3 minute YouTube video on honeybees. The animals named are a bit outre, so the videos help reinforce that these are real creatures.

Aside from this I love the artwork and concept
I would have given this book 5 stars, but my copy is missing the pages for the S and the T. I assume that mine must be from a misprinted batch and not all copies would be the same? Aside from this I love the artwork and concept. It has a nice flow with the repetition of "peek-a-boo who?" and I like that it features some less common animal names. The texture and pup-up flaps help capture my toddlers attention.

Excellent book. I can't believe this isn't more popular
Excellent book. I can't believe this isn't more popular. The pictures are well very well done. It has so much all in one book - flaps (what toddler doesn't like flaps?), sandpaper letters for tracing, both upper and lower case (surprisingly hard to find), and excellent pictures that are both artistic and realistic enough that my daughter can identify them. I also appreciate that it uses real animals even if they have to get a little creative (e.g., Urial instead of Unicorn). Nothing wrong with teaching kids about lesser-known animals. Best of all, my daughter is learning and thinks it's fun!

Nice
I liked this book quite a bit but my kid was bored pretty fast. I think the muted colors might be the reason.

Love this book!
My 4 year old, 3 year old, 1 year old (and I) all love this book! The pictures are fun and colorful. They like tracing the letters. I love that there are capital and lowercase letters. It is great to be able to teach my younger ones the alphabet in a way that they enjoy. The reason why I gave it only 4 stars is because it is flimsy for a board book. I can see it easily tearing with my toddlers loving it the way they do.
