A very good quality record player at this price level and can output to PC for recording.
The Dual DT 400 USB G arrives protected inside a well protected box. I watched the video of how to put the turntable together. From opening the box this took me approx 15 mins to put together, you will want a little more time to set up the balance of the arm counter-weight in proportion to the anti skating adjustment dial. I would certainly recommend watching the video for set-up which details this quite nicely in regards to the set-up process.I have a dedicated ports on my amplifier for analogue connection of a record player. The record player is already fitted with pre-amplification. I do have a pre-amplifier but have not used this in the setup on this occasion. The set-up of the analogue out to a computer set-up is something I have used and will be using in future as a transportation tool to keep computer files of sound. I use MAGIX Audio Cleaning Lab software to record and run some post recording of routine modifications to the sound and save this as a 24bit / 44.1 Hz FLAC file. I listen to classical music and have purchased out of print records that have not made it to transfer to the digital era as download or on CD. For example Raff - Symphony No. 5 'Leonore' LPO/Herrmann, this was available briefly on 'limited' CDr I believe at premium price and now sadly no longer available. That has cut quite nicely onto my PC/Digital player device for FLAC play-back. The record player is reasonably very good quality at the price this is offered for. I am pleased with the overall performance and playback that the record player offers when playing records. I note the record player comes with a stylus needle and a middle section ring if playing 45's where the centre bit is not there to place on the record deck.In summary if you are seeking a record player and something that can output to a Laptop this is a definite recommendation. I am pleased with the build quality and the the reasonable output quality in the sound reproduction and a worthwhile addition to a sound set-up where this can be routinely used.

Line Level and Phono Level Output - USB Connection for digitisation - Good Cartridge inc
I was really excited to get my Dual DT 400 USB G and it came well protected inside a good transit packaging box as I would expect for a high quality turntable. Its pretty straight forward to connect up and you can use the analogue connections (both line level output and phono level output are selectable meaning you dont require a specialist amp or preamp, just something with a line in) and also a plug and play USB interface. In terms of setting up the tone arm and balance of the arm, if you haven't done this before or are unsure, there are plenty of youtube videos that explain the importance and proper procedure.I connected the USB interface onto my iMac and it was detected straight away with no issues or concerns and it was then easy to use software to record my vinyls - the sound quality when recording as a FLAC was excellent and at the price point, performs as well as plenty of higher priced decks. I have a Rega Planar 1 that I use in the lounge and the sound from this I would argue is better through my Genelecs. This also has the added benefit of inbuilt USB connection so in my eyes makes it better value. I'd say the mega may look a little better, but I dont think there's much in the sub £400 bracket that covers as many bases, as well as this does.It also includes a decent quality Audio Technica Cartridge which is more than well suited to the calibre of the deck.A great all rounder that still looks good at the end of the day!

A very high quality turntable in line with Dual's history of top quality products
14 September 2019Dual have been manufacturers of turntables for as long as I can remember and they have always been at the top echelons of their art., winning their first award for a turntable in 1937.The re-emergence of vinyl has seen a boost to the market for Dual and they have embraced both the analogue and digital world by the production of turntables such as the Dual DT 400 USB G.This turntable has a normal, dual channel analogue out put (to phono plugs) but also has a digital USB output. This gives you the choice of going straight to your stereo amplifier system or via a PC using something like Audacity ripping software (not provided as part of the package). The build quality is superb and everything is supplied well packed and secure making it the work of moments to piece the deck together and have it ready for use.The deck has an aluminium, belt driven platter with non-slip mat, and an automatic start system featuring auto stop and auto arm lift up. It also has a straight tone arm which is fitted with an AT3600 magnetic cartridge. There is a full size Perspex hinged lid such that the record is fully covered whilst playing. The performance is superb; no audible wow or flutter and it presents excellent quality audio out to your amplifier.I haven’t tried the USB port as I don’t bother to rip music from records but I have no reason to assume that it will be any less excellent than the overall performance when playing music directly.Having dug out a few of my records that I’ve not played for over 10 years, I am having a bit of a musical renaissance, much to the wife’s annoyance. Ah well, definitely a good buy I’d say.

The old vinyls are out and the Northern Soul is playing.
My hubby is in his element playing all his old records and downloading his sounds onto his computer. On arrival it only took him about about 30 mins to set up as this is the first time we have had a record player like this. It is a nice looking piece of equipment and is easy to operate. We are not at all technically minded but we do know a good piece of equipment which gives a good sound and we are really pleased with this.
