Wow.
While I read the specs, I didn't fully appreciate the incredible bulk of this chain. I did have to hit it with a hammer and hardened carbon steel chisel to see if it was as tough as advertised. I dented the chisel. I had to anneal, regrind, and heat treat the chisel to get it back to working condition. This chain ain't no joke.

This thing is waaaaaaayyyyyy heavy.
Robust? Heck yes it is. Heavy? WAAAAYY HEAVY. Bought it and then found a video showing someone cutting through it with an over grown Dremel tool in nothing flat. Plus, this barely will wrap through both wheels, the frame and a stationary bar. Additionally, this obviously is a really expensive locking system. I should have thought this through a little more. The big issue is where and when you'll be using this. If you're biking to the gym, with all of that traffic, I'm not sure you'll need something this thick. If you have a pricey bike, I doubt that you'd be locking this thing up outside over night. The good news? Haven't seen where a set of bolt cutters would cut through this.

bombproof
I actually returned this item, as it far exceeds my needs. Were I a potential bike thief, on seeing this I'd opt to knocking off a few coffee shops, maybe a Brinks truck or two before tackling a bike secured with this. Heavy, likely weighs more than a bike that warrants such security. If you're securing a bike overnight in a city such as NYC or L.A. & are leaving your lock & chain in one place, or are more concerned re potential theft than with weight, this is for you.I returned for another Kryptonite lock & chain that's not quite so formidable, that's easier to carry along & is likely a tad less secure, tho fully adequate for my needs.

Now I know what the fuzz is all about
Once you get it in your hands, it makes sense it costs what it costs. Heavy duty material. Hope I never have to find out if it’s been put to the test. Only issue is that sometimes the lock gets a little finicky to open. I just wish they made it longer, I’d pay more for a longer versionUPDATE: lock for worse. BUT, contacted the seller. I received a new chain and lock within the week. No issues with the new ones. Would definitely recommend

Fahgettaboudit!!!
Love this lock and chain. The chain is massive. Weighs a ton. I live in an apartment complex and use this chain to lock up two nice bikes outside. The 5ft is long enough that I can lock them both up with the same lock. I live in an area with a lot of bike thefts and we have had many of our bikes stolen. Now, nobody is touching our bikes. :) That makes me very happy. I sleep better at night knowing our bikes will be there in the morning. It is really heavy so we use this lock at home and a different one for locking up at school or work. Fahgetaboudit, thieves!!!!

Excellent deterrent but heavy
This is a heavy chain and lock combo (6.78 kg/14.95 lbs) but I only plan to use this for quick runs in areas with lots of foot traffic. No lock is completely impenetrable but this chain and lock scream ‘not today thieves!’

Weight is awful
Almost weighs as much as the bike. The ad says it weighs 11 lbs; more like over 17 lbs on our scale. We are in an RV and cannot find a place that has more metal than the chain. Sort of why the club failed when the thieves cut the steering wheel. There ain't no way I can use it to stop and eat, because I can't carry it on the bike. Eleven pounds might have worked. I might as well carry a concrete block.Be careful unlocking. The tumblers misalign and you can't get it to lock without a small thin screwdriver to realign the lock, and that ain't easy without a flashlight.

Not happy with product
The media could not be loaded. Paid 137 plus tax for a used chain and lock. Never ordering from them again smh

15lb and guaranteed to not be cut with bolt cutters.
The padlock is enormous. Links are huge. If you are truly worried, add a motion alarm 110 dB alarm and maybe an Apple air tag or samsung tag inside the frame. They need to make a Branded Bike rack chain carrier lol. It's almost impossible to fit this 5ft chain anywhere. I wrapped mine around the seat post and the rear rack. Otherwise the best option is a triangle frame bag.Keep in mind, you Can cut the links, but your thief will be grinding for 15 minutes straight, and will got through a few batteries while waking up the neighborhood :P

It’s a heavyweight
I can’t imagine a sturdier useable lock. It’s heavy so difficult to wind through parts but once it’s on there I feel confident the bike isn’t going anywhere. I would never consider it for a travelling lock. It’s just way too heavy.

Why cheap out on guaranteeing your ride is safe?
Very sturdy, very satisfying. As a lot of the places I tie my bike off to are odd or require a little extra length, the length of this chain is great for me. Otherwise, weight might be a small issue to some and I would probably recommend the shorter length chain versions as necessary. Highly recommended.
