built well; works great for close up work
My wife likes to cross-stitch. It is a hobby that requires a lot of close up work, and the lighting in our living room where she likes to sew is not ideal for this. So, I ordered this magnifier head lamp visor for her. The visor is nicely boxed. Included with the visor are the removable head lamp, a plastic cover for when the lamp is not used, a plastic box containing four hinged lenses, and an instruction sheet. For the most part, the visor is intuitive to use.The head lamp easily pulls up out of the visor, which you have to do to install the needed three AAA batteries (not included). Alkaline batteries are recommended, and they are estimated to provide about 50 hours of light before needed replacement. When it is positioned on the visor, the light from the headlamp can be adjusted directionally so it illuminates exactly where you want the light. The lamp has three LEDs in it, and they provide plenty of light. The head band is easy to adjust for proper fit. It is designed so the entire visor can be lifted upward without removing the head band.Installing and removing the lenses is a bit challenging. I had to use a lot of force to get the lens to pop into its proper place, and it took a lot of force to get it back out, so much that I feared I would break it. After removing the first lens, popping in the second one was significantly easier, so it’s possible that this improves with usage. The lenses each have two small hinges that can easily break if the lenses are not removed correctly. There are warnings in the instruction sheet and also on the box of lenses to pull them out of the visor at an angle, one edge at a time, or the hinges can break. Once it is properly installed, the lens can be lifted upward when needed without removing the visor. After getting everything set up, my wife quickly started using the visor for her cross-stitch project. She absolutely loves it. She says the lighting is perfect, as is the magnification. She says the visor is comfortable to wear.Overall, this is an excellent lighted magnifying visor. It is versatile and easy to use. It is a little pricey when compared with other brands, but I think the build quality is excellent and worth its price. This would be ideal for anyone who does close up work either professionally or for a hobby. It would also be handy for those who need magnification for reading.

This is the one!
I love this magnifier. The optical quality is outstanding. It is well designed and made. The LED light works well. With the strongest lens you can see molecules. Well... almost. It really is a great item at a good price.

Works well for crafting/hobby/project work; love battery choice
As a mid 50’s person , working on detailed things close up such as model building, reworking a home theater receiver swap, or electronics work , I can say the benefit of the low magnification lens options with the removable light are a winner. No more flipping between different eyeglasses and head work lamps, this all in one serves the need and the frameless nature of the model keeps the wide peripheral open.I appreciate and chose this model because it issues AAA batteries and not build in rechargeable batteries. After a lifetime of using devices with rechargeable batteries and having to throw away perfectly working tools just because the rechargeable batteries no longer hold a charge , I appreciate that these are driven by a standard size replicable battery style. And because of that you can get rechargeable NiMH AAA batteries that can be recharged external to the lamp and use this perfectly well with rechargeable batteries if you want. And when the batteries no longer hold a charge - and they ALL will fail after 5-8 years, you don’t need to throw away the magnifier , you just get new rechargeable batteries. I’d they hand build in batteries Id almost guarantee that you’d not find replacements, they would not be user replaceable , and/or the battery would cost as much as buying a whole new magnifier headband. So kudos for the AAA option. Finally being a big skulled person I appreciate the sizing of the headband. The long term comfort a trade off depending on your head shape. If they made them worth more padding , then the visor wouldn’t sit as stable and the padding would wear out at some point. This plastic is just as solid as the jeweler’s visor that is 20 years old. Id rather have the option to add padding (which we do with this) rather than being forced to use a predetermined style of padding that’s not ideal for all cases. The only addition I miss is the rotating adjustment knob for tightness on my older jeweler’s visor. That provides a more fine grained adjustment while wearing it, than the fixed steps that the strap on this one gives the user , but it is fine the way it is - you just have to remove the visor from the head to adjust it.
