my favorite brand of the most awesome salt ever + EXTRA-FINE GRAIN WORKS IDEALLY FOR EVERYTHING SO FAR
Just when I was about to give up on trying to find an extra great salt & go back to the Hains salt I've been buying from Whole Foods for years, a friend kept raving so much about pink Himalayan salt that I decided it was worth 1 final try. This Sherpa brand was my hands down favorite & at $6.99 for a 2 lb extra-fine bag with free shipping, it also was the most cost-effective of the many alternatives I looked into. Every person I've shared this salt with raves about it & agrees that it truly is awesome salt, so rich in flavor, beautiful in color & it seems to work great for every type of cooking. I had no idea that such a basic item as salt could be so awesome that I truly am in love with this salt & I so love using it & the rich flavor it adds to everything & its versatility in working so well for every type of cooking I've tried so far including baking. I HAD BEEN SO SCARED TO TRY IT GIVEN SOME AMAZON REVIEWERS QUESTIONING ITS AUTHENTICITY/PURITY &/OR CLAIMED HEALTH BENEFITS + saying that the way it gets mined results in toxic metals being included which would be super harmful in my case given my genetic weakness in handling heavy metals. Fortunately the friend who raved about it is even more sensitive & challenged in those ways thanks to her known methylation gene defect which her 23&Me test showed years ago. So I figured if she's been loving using it for some time now & has had no problems despite her unsusual sensitivity level, it was likely not a problem which indeed proved to be the case for me also as I am so sensitive to toxins or anything harmful that I can usually tell either immediately or very soon after exposure. AS AN EXTRA BENEFIT: I had read that soaking in the pink Himalayan salt can also be great for one's health & helpful for detoxing while being an awesome relaxing & rejuvenating experience. I look forward to trying that out when our California drought ends & plan on experimenting to determine whether Epsom salts &/or baking soda &/or rose petals bring extra benefits worth also adding as I've heard those are all helpful also.

The delicious flavor, consistent quality & slightly larger crystal size make this salt more versatile & the only salt you need
The salt from this company is always top quality. The granules are all consistently sized, the granules are a little bigger than regular table salt, more along the size of Kosher salt. I have found this salt is an excellent substituted for and more flavorful than Kosher salt. I have used this salt for about 5 years and have found it is more versatile than table salt and works very well for all my cooking needs. I use this Himalayan salt just as I would table salt, measuring and using it in equal amount to what recipes call for. I have never had a problem with the salt failing to dissolve in normal cooking, so it has never left a gritty taste or texture when included in a dish. I really like not having to buy Kosher salt or another type of salt to sprinkled on the top or outside of foods. This Sherpa Himalayan Salt works very well when sprinkled on the top or outside of foods such as potatoes for baking (lightly grease the potato skin with Crisco, oil or butter, sprinkle the entire potato skin with Himalayan Salt, then place in the oven or on the grill), grilled steaks and veggies, etc. It also works well to enhance the flavors of fresh fruits and veggies when lightly sprinkled over. I also top many of my baked goods with these delicious crystals. It is adds a wonderful taste and crunch when sprinkled over homemade pretzels, bagels, savory scones and breads. It provides a delightful contrast in flavor and texture when sprinkled over sweet items such as caramels (salted caramels are a popular treat), brownies and even cookies. I love the consistent quality I get with Sherpa Pink Gourmet Himalayan Salt, but I love the taste and versatility it brings to my cooking even more! For me, it is well worth paying a little more for the Sherpa Pink Gourmet Himalayan Salt than for standard table salt. The delicious flavor, consistent quality and size -the slightly larger crystals make this salt more versatile in how it can be used. For me, this means that I do not have to keep 2 or 3 different types of salt on hand to meet my cooking needs, this Sherpa Pink Gourmet Himalayan Salt does everything I need salt to do.

Oh my, this stuff is the best salt I have ever tasted!
Personally, I don't pay a ton of attention to salt intake....I am not hyper "low sodium" as is sometimes popular in the media. Don't get my wrong, I eat an extremely healthy diet, but it is the salt we get in *processed* foods (and the over-processed cheap "white" salt) that is bad for you. However, if you use a decent salt with trace minerals (in moderation), I think it is helpful. Our bodies do need salt. I have actually struggled with low blood pressure much of my life, so I have never had a doctor to tell me to limit salt - in fact, some have suggested I make sure to get *enough* sodium. I use Pink Himalayan salt - it actually tastes so much better - did you know that salt tastes differently?! This salt is much better for you than table salt - my kids love it too. This is the brand I use and the best price I have found. Commercial refined (table) salt is inferior because not only is it stripped of almost all its minerals, but is also chemically cleaned, bleached and heated at unnecessary high temperatures - YUCK! It is treated with anti-caking agents which prevent salt from mixing with water in the salt container. These agents also prevent dissolving within our system leading to build up and then deposit in organs and tissue, causing health problems. Finally, the iodine that is added into salt is usually synthetic which is difficult for your body to process properly Pink Himalayan salt packs a hearty 80+ minerals and elements- Himalayan salts are mineral packed crystals which formed naturally within the earth made up of 85.62% sodium chloride and 14.38% other trace minerals such as: sulphate, magnesium, calcium, potassium, bicarbonate, bromide, borate, and strontium. And, natural salts are rich in iodine, so it doesn’t need to be artificially added in. *Regular personal purchase

Great salt that is uneven and coarser than regular table salt.
Purchased this gourmet "extra fine" salt to replace my existing, cheap supermarket salt. My first observation is on the grain size. This product is coarser than regular salt. It's closer to beach sand in size. It's also more uneven, running from powder to coarse grains. See photo attached to review of this product compared with regular table salt. This I discovered when I used the salt shaker and found the amount being dispensed was not in proportion to the amount of shaking. Mostly the powder and fine grains came out. While the coarse grains do fit through the hole, unless they are lined up, they come out at a slower rate. Thus, the grains that come out of the shaker isn't reflective of what is inside the shaker. I ended up drilling larger holes in my salt shaker top to fix this, which may or may not be an option for you. Now I am happy with the dispense rate. The next issue is that the powder sticks to the outside top of the salt shaker. This I noticed after a couple days of using it. I typically shake the salt out at a 45 degree angle to control the flow. Some of the salt cascades down the top of the shaker, and the powder is too light to overcome the friction at that angle. And there you have it, a salt shaker with a powdered top. So now I have to wipe the top clean every so often. A little cosmetic inconvenience. As far as the product itself, it tastes like regular salt. I do notice the larger crystals when shaken on food just prior to eating. It's a slight, salty crunch that I like. I find that they add a little flavor pop to the meal. A side note: While vendor offers "extra fine" and "fine" grain levels as documented in one of their product listing photos. This isn't reflected on the product itself. No where on the actual package does it say "extra fine" or "fine". They also use the same photo in both listings, and in those photos it doesn't show the grain size on the package either. I suspect that if you purchased the "fine" and "extra fine" products, you'd get the same exact product - an uneven, powder to fine grain salt that won't work properly in all regular salt shakers. Side note #2: Some others have complained about sand / particulate matter in the product. There is a disclaimer on the package, which you can read on the back in fine print if you zoom in on the product photo. Spoiler alert: It does contain insoluble mineral deposits. I like the actual product, I just think that it could be more accurately described in the listing to let people make an informed choice. The fine / extra-fine mystery is not cool either.

Great value & super nutritious!
Sherpa Pink Himalayan Pink Salt is a kitchen essential in our home, and for good reason. The value and quality it offers are outstanding, making it a staple that we've consistently ordered and always been satisfied with. Beyond its exceptional taste (a little goes a long way!) what sets this salt apart is its super nutritious profile. Packed with dozens of trace minerals, it's a much healthier alternative to traditional white table salt. We appreciate the added benefits, including its ability to help detoxify the body. We use Sherpa Pink Himalayan Salt in all our cooking. The extra-fine grain dissolves easily and evenly, imparting a rich flavor to our meals. The resealable bag ensures the salt stays fresh and free-flowing. If you're looking for a top-quality, nutrient-rich salt, Sherpa Pink Himalayan Pink Salt is the way to go. It's a must-have for health-conscious cooks who value both taste and nutritional benefits.

Great tasting Himalayan Pink Salt and a great value!
First of all I want to say that my family has been buying the Sherpa brand of Himalayan salt for years from Amazon and we love it. It is tasty, provides naturally occurring nutrients that other non-Himalayan salts don't and doesn't smell "funny" (at least to my family) as one or two reviewers have stated, We use it for all of our salt needs. I do wish the Extra Fine was just a little finer grain but that's a personal preference and certainly not a reason to stop buying this brand. Second, I always read the 1 star reviews to see what others are saying to make sure I am not missing something. At this writing there were about 20 one star reviews out of almost 1,200 reviews. Most were about sand or grit that wouldn't dissolve. Having read 1 star reviews on other brands I see that most of those are also about sand or grit so I conclude that this is a natural substance in Himalayan salt and am not worried about it. I have NEVER noticed it so the amount of the sand or grit that triggers someones Grit Red Light counter is as always, subjective. Many of the other one star reviews were just silly, things like claiming that the "smell must be from a pink dye" (really? that's quite a conclusion to jump to with no other basis than a guess!), or that it isn't Himalayan salt because it comes from Pakistan (unless there was a recent huge geological upheaval that I wasn't aware of, the Himalayas still run through many countries, including Pakistan). Bottom line for me is the product meets/exceeds my expectations for quality and taste and is an excellent value, especially in the 5 lbs size.

Why Pink Himalayan Salt instead of Regular White Table Salt? Here's Why!
You may be thinking "What can you say about salt? It's salt!" But that is like saying "What can you say about butter?" Depending on the source, the manufacturing, the care taken in producing the product, etc., it can make a real difference in the way that something tastes (and that's not even comparing it to margarine!) And, how a product like butter - or salt - tastes on its own will also influence whatever you put it on, or in. I use pink Himalayan salt for a variety of reasons, including that it just seems to provide a brighter (for lack of a better word) salt experience (for lack of an even more pretentious term :-) ). But also for the health benefits - both in terms of why pink Himalayan (or other unrefined sea salt) is better for you, but also why table salt is *worse* for you. As one health expert explains, generic table salt is generally "about 97.5% sodium chloride and a 2.5% balance containing an array of ingredients including: Anti-caking chemicals, Iodine to prevent goiters, MSG and/or white processed sugar to help stabilize the iodine, and aluminum derivatives such as sodium solo-co-aluminate." YUCK! First they process the **** out of it, so it contains almost no trace minerals at all, then they add in the iodine, along with other stuff that is *not* salt, and not naturally found in salt! (For a great article on all of this, google "10 Benefits of Celtic Sea Salt and Himalayan Salt Dr. Axe") And, of course, it looks beautiful in the shaker on the table, and when your guests see that lovely pink colour they know that you care not only about flavour, but the health of your guests. :-) Bottom line: This is a great product, at a good price. :-)
