Great at providing some insurance as an alternative power source
I bought this for the TI-nspire touchpad model which does not come with the rechargeable battery nor the wall charger. So not only will this rechargeable battery provides some additional insurance as a power source, the wall charger + USB cable also allows you to:1. Use the wall charger directly as a power source (even when your rechargeable battery or the AAA batteries both run out).2. Use the USB cable connected to any other USB capable power source (laptops, desktops) as a power source.3. In either of the above scenarios, the rechargeable battery will be charged.Note that I bought directly from Amazon, and the package comes with the battery itself, a wall charger and a USB cable. Not sure if other 3rd party vendors ship all 3 of them or just the battery--some user comments seem to indicate that (at least some of the) 3rd party vendors ship only the battery. So make sure what you will get as a package before you order from 3rd party vendors.

Works well, but is it necessary?
Not much to say in this review. The battery is fairly easy to install--make sure you have a small Philips screwdriver--and once it's fully charged it will last for a very, very long time. In fact, I have to wonder if a rechargeable battery is really necessary for this calculator. The calculator will still run for quite a while on AAA batteries, so slapping in a rechargeable battery that will only very rarely have to be recharged may be a little excessive. Even so, if you don't want to suffer even the most remote possibility that your calculator will run out of juice, then yes, go ahead and buy the rechargeable battery. You don't have to remove any AAA batteries you've already put in the device. Instead, you can use those as a backup in the unlikely event that your rechargeable runs out. That way, you'll pretty much annihilate the chances of the calculator running out of power during a test or some other inopportune time.

Long Lasting
This battery can last many months on a singular charge even with regular use. It has not meaningfully degraded over time either.10/10 recommend for the Nspire.

Saved our investment
We bought this as a last resort. My daughter's N-spire is a couple of years old and needed for two more classes. It stopped working on AAA batteries, though it was still fine on the cradles at school. Since she needs it for state testing in June, we wanted to make sure she had one that worked on its own. Before sinking money into a new Nspire we decided ti buy the rechargeable..We're so glad we did! Her calculator is working again and we've saved $100. I gave it four stars instead of five because her calculator froze once while using it with the rechargeable. She removed the battery and put it back in, which corrected the problem. But, we are very pleased over all.

Perfect replacement and spare if needed for a Ti 84 Plus C Silver Edition
I bought this as a replacement for my sons Texas Instruments, Ti 84 Plus C Silver Edition. It was a perfect match. Holds charge equivalent to the OEM battery and we have not had one problem with it. It has been a few months of use and we have not seen any drop in charging capacity or a need to recharge it any more frequently than the original. Actually it seems to hold a charge much longer but that may be due to my sons memory of how often he had to charge it as the original started to die.

Great Product but not for new CX-CAS
I have a TI-nspire CAS and this product is great at saving the 4 AAA batteries that you can also install in the unit. It also comes with an AC power adapter so you end up with an extra one. :-)This product is NOT necessary if you buy a new TI-nspireCX-CAS (the color/backlit model). It comes with this kit included. It has to since it has no accommodation for AAA batteries. This battery works well in both systems but is only needed for the older model, unless the product is being purchased to replace a failed battery.

The only way to go!
This rechargeable battery is the only way to use the calculator. I bought this for my teen to use in advanced math classes in jr high, and specifically picked the calculator model to follow him through high school. The rechargeable battery is hands down the best idea to keep the calculator running. It's place is right next to his phone so he can keep it charged up and always know where it is.Being able to find it when he needs it, is of course a very important consideration for a jr high student...
