Vampliers makes different size and shape extraction pliers. Either buy a set or do enough research to choose what best suits your needs. I don't do automotive (except light self-repair), or heavy construction/industrial. I wanted something for household work, audio equipment, and theater staging. That means small to medium screws, often in tight places. I also wanted good wire cutters, to complement knippers and not have to bring full linemans (which are larger and heavier). Intermeshed teeth is an added bonus for general purpose work. The Brutes are a great compromise, and perfect for my needs. At first site, they seem small and light, but they fit perfectly in my average size hands, and the design is intentional. Their targets are often in tight spots, not to mention convenience (they slip easily in a pocket and don't drag your pants down) so bigger isn't better. The action is smooth and solid, and the handle grip is just right. Not sticky or slippery. I did get my hands wet, to test, and they give up some grip, but don't feel dangerously slick. Makes sense as vampires don't like water. I tried them on a number of screws, and they grab really well. I like them better end-on, but they also work from the side if you need more leverage (or for holding the screw on the back of a bifold door, to tighten by twisting the knob). I haven't stressed them, but they haven't slipped off yet, under pressure, which was my biggest concern. Note that they do bite, as their name implies. That means they WILL leave tooth marks in screw heads if you bear down. You do need a little bit to grab, so countersunk screws are still sunk. But they can grab a brash tack and pull it out of drywall no problem. Saves prying if used on wall decorations. The wire cutters (new and sharp of course) are GREAT. Down to flat stranded wire and small solid core, which is often a failing. The one thing they didn't go through was the outer rubber sheathing on 3x14ga. It's a soft rubber, and the very last bit just compressed and had to be pulled off. They can't quite flush cut, and won't replace nippers, but are otherwise very nice. Now that I've seen the quality--they're my first Vampliers--I will covet, but probably don't need more. When I get a new tool, I usually try them out on a number of things right away, and the Brutes are great so far. Now I need to find some really bad, stuck, stripped screws and put them to an acid test. It may seem like a lot of money to spend, if it's not for your job, but quality doesn't come cheap. While they are a specialized tool, they are general purpose enough that you can make them an everyday carry, start conversations with them (based on the name and purpose), and be the hero when you can get that screw out. Or just be the one who has "those really cool pliers".

I've honestly never found a use for pliers of any type. Like my experience with adjustable wrenches, pliers always seemed to do any job worse than a better tool. I bought some Vampire tools to do some small-scale, delicate soldering work. The quality of those tools and the extraction capability of the Vampliers gave me the confidence to roll the dice. Lately, I had a combination stud/drywall anchor below the sheetrock's surface, stuck into a stud, and had the driving boss stripped out. The anchor was too soft for an easy-out. I was stuck with a conundrum. I pulled out these pliers, and in seconds I had solved an otherwise sticky problem. The quality is top-notch. The perpendicularly ground teeth are an incredible advance over traditional pliers. I won't use these daily, but I will reach for them when I have a nasty problem which with no other tool could help.

This a specialty plier that will not disappoint. The grip these pliers have on even very small fasteners is remarkable despite the small size of these mechanical wonders cannot be over stated. See the photo I attached. I have big hands that make the Vampliers look even smaller. I was replacing an old Ring doorbell camera recently - it was about 7 years old. There is a small security screw on Ring doorbell covers on the bottom of the face plate. I could not find the original screw driver supplied by Ring for the old security screw. The new Ring camera screwdriver had been changed and it would not work on the legacy security screw - I was "screwed". There was a tiny bit of the security screw protruding from the cover - maybe 1mm. The Vampliers grabbed and removed the security screw with minimal effort which was great for me but possibly bad for all Ring doorbell owners who think the cover on the doorbell somehow has the camera protected - it's not. One small tip here - if you are removing a very small screw with these pliers and you don't want to lose the screw, place one small neodymium super magnet on each side of the pliers to hold the screw when it comes loose. Bottom line here is that the machining, fit and finish and utility of these pliers is remarkable. I own a boatload of tools and I do not own another pair of pliers - Snap On, MAC, Vise Grip, whatever that can do what the Vampliers did on that tiny screw. The Vampliers are not cheap but they work like nothing else for twice the price. Hope that helps!

Well made pliers that work as advertised. I’m a professional mechanic and I’ve used all major pro brands of pliers, these are the nicest I’ve ever used. These serve a very specific purpose with the serrations being lengthwise and crosswise to the jaws. They will function well as a standard set of pliers and also allow for extraction of stubborn screws, pins and studs which cannot be removed with standard tools. Honestly thought these were a gimmick until I saw them in action. The workmanship, fit and finish is beyond what most of my pro brand pliers offer for twice the price. I will be looking into other vamplier tools in the future.
