Maskal Teff, Ivory Grain, 16 Ounce

Funny the things you miss when you can no longer eat wheat. For me one of those things was the hot wheat cereal I had as a kid. This is a great gluten-free alternative. It's now a constant in our breakfast cereal rotation. Great as a side dish too. I like that it's grown in the USA.

I had been buying brown Teff and when I saw the ivory I thought I would give it a try. So glad I did as the flavor is much better almost tastes a little sweeter than brown Teff. Great product and very nutritious.

Worthy

I buy this teff to keep on hand as an add-in for my homemade GF breads and granola bars. The taste is unobtrusive. It adds nutrition and is definitely GF. (The celiac in our house was recently checked for healing with both blood and biopsy and they were perfect. I have been using this teff for the last year, so it's clear of gluten, in case anyone was worried.)

I bought this teff as a morning breakfast cereal, cooked like oatmeal and served with fruit, plain greek yogurt, honey, cinnamon, etc. It has a funky consistency but tastes great. Then I got the idea of grinding into a flour and mixing it with my buckwheat for pancakes. Fantastic! Then I ran out of buckwheat and just used the teff flour to make pancakes. Even better! With the nutritional profile, you know you're eating something that's good for you (plenty of minerals and no gluten). And makes just amazingly moist pancakes. Add some fruit, cinnamon and a little syrup and you have a breakfast that will hang with you till lunch or even later.

If you know how to cook this this is a really really good option for authentic grains I like to make mines into a cream of wheat texture breakfast cereal. The taste is a nutty flavor.

Grain is a bit too small for my pallet.
