Still going 5 years later.
I purchased this on October 16th, 2020. Its now July 2025. Besides the wire starting to fray at the box, this has been a very dependable warmer. I use it just about every day in the fall, through winter. Sometimes in the summer. (Chicago weather.) I leave it on for about an hour to an hour and a half. Food gets really hot! I keep it in my work truck and it gets abused quite a bit. Very impressed that it's lasted this long. The only thing I changed right away, was the spring in the plug because it failed to spring back after a few months.

It has held up for over 1 year
This is a food warmer and not an oven. It works great for it's intended purpose. I use it when traveling and it allows me to have a warm bite and not have to do a drive thru. I usually plug it in the DC cig port but it is not a big draw of energy if I run it on a power bank.

My husband loves this
With the covid-19 my husband had to work out of his company truck and couldn't heat up lunches anymore so I bought this Overall completely worth the money even with the slight annoyances *(Also note he plugs it in and heats his food while driving and not while truck is off )* PROS= *Will get food really hot * *Can be left plugged in to heat food while working * *seems really durable * *reliable * CONS = *having to wrap food in aluminum foil* *Takes about an hour to get food hot * *wire comes loose when wrap it up after use * *cant put it down in water to clean*

Works as intended but fuse is too large.
(Executive Summary) raised the temp of about 2 lbs of water approx 100°F in about an hour. Factory fuse is too big and it didn't break when I dropped it. (Procedure) This lunchbox heater arrived and I unboxed it and then dropped it on concrete. Clasp popped off but did not break and I was able to put it back together so it survived a 1m drop test. The power cord has a standard car blade fuse holder and it was fitted with a 20 Amp (yellow) fuse which seemed like a lot (20A x 13.8V = 276 watts) for a little plastic lunchbox. I replaced the 20A fuse with a 7.5 A one and it still worked fine. I decided to figure out what its actual current needs were so I calculated its power using the calorimeter method as I don not have a constant voltage power supply that would readout the amps. What I do have is an analytical pan balance, a clock, and a thermocouple. I placed the lunchbox on a digital scale and added 1047g of water, allowed it to normalize temp and measured starting temp at 17.3 °C. I then plugged it into a 12V battery connected to a charger which kept voltage at about 13.8V for the entire experiment. Over the next 2 hours I recorded the temp of the water using a digital thermometer and read the mass change of the setup. Here is the data table Time Temp (°C) Delta Mass (g) 7:58 17.3 0.0 8:18 39.2 0.0 8:39 56.8 0.0 9:07 71.1 0.0 9:30 79.1 -4.4 9:43 81.4 -8.6 As you can see from the data that the temperature rose quickly for the first 70 minutes then slowed its rate, this is also the time it began to lose mass (due to increased evaporative losses). If you look at the first 3 data points, you can see a very linear rise in temp over time (0.9624 °C / Min). To raise the temperature of 1047 g of water at this rate requires 70.3 Watts of power. At a voltage of 13.8 this means the unit is using 5Amps (on average) during this phase. Thus a 20A fuse (4X capacity) is unnecessay and the 7.5 or 10A fuse would be a better fit to prevent fires due to internal fault. I did not take the unit apart but I suspect it is just a heating element with no thermostat (maybe a high temp fuse?). In any case, they could have just put the wattage (70) on the product description.

Love it!!!
Bought this for my boyfriend who is a custom applicator or as most people would say, a fertilizer sprayer. He is in a huge terragator type tractor for up to 18 hours per day at this time of year. After 20 years of living off of lunchmeat and sub sandwiches from April-September, he is overjoyed to have this. The first day he brought leftover pizza and he said that it was like fresh-out-of-oven from the restaurant after 15 minutes. He's tried everything from hot pockets to leftover tatortot casserole, and it all turned out perfect. All of his coworkers are jealous and want one of their own. My boyfriend said that he doesn't know how he went all of these years without something like this. The only thing that they could improve on is to make a re-usable pan that fits inside. I bought disposable pans at Walmart for 3/$1, but that gets expensive after awhile. I have searched the internet for a loaf pan that fits inside, but they're all too big or tiny. If anyone has found one, please tell me!!! Overall, this is probably the best money that I've ever spent on Amazon, and trust me, I spend ALOT!!

not suitable for reheating within 30 minutes. may keep warm food warm
I purchased this to replace a seven year old Road Pro stove I used in a semi truck. I could heat food from refrigerator to HOT in 15-20 minutes in the Road Pro. This stove would not have food luke warm in over 30 minutes. If you put HOT food in it then it may keep it warm but definitely not recommended for using in a truck or reheating cold food. I ended up purchasing another Road Pro from a truck stop.

Love the extra long cord.
This portable oven works just as advertised. The first time I used it, I put left over taco meat in a glass container covered with foil. It heated it up luke warm in about 45 minutes. I've found the best method is wrapping food up in foil. It will heat up two individually wrapped tacos/burritos ect. To the melting cheese point in 30-40 minutes. I'll put whatever I'm hearing up in 1/2 hour earlier than I want it. I've gotten busy and forgotten about it and at an hour, the food is burn your mouth hot. I would think turning it half way through the cook would work best. Has never blown a fuse. A nice hot meal in the field is awesome.

We have bought many of these little heated lunchboxes in many brands. However, the Koolatron brand is amazing. Friends and family have used them for literally years. The first thing to go after a few years is the power end, but we buy a new end cheap and connect it all together, then it works for another few years. This is great for construction workers and people on the road. This is particular was a present for the father-in-law, and he loves that he can have grilled cheese on a job site in the middle of nowhere when there's no power.

I got this particular lunch box because it was 10 amps rather than 15 of some other competitors, others were blowing my 12v fuse. The downside is because it's lower power, it takes about 30-40 mins to cook a can of chunky soup. I used disposable aluminum loaf pans inside so I wouldn't need to wash the box. Cooks up really hot, just takes a long time. Good for steaming or reheating food that would burn on a camping stove. A couple of times it drained my solar panel battery low after being plugged in for so long. Be careful if you're plugging into a car without the engine running.
