Straightforward
Was looking for something that I could use through the filling loop, as this is (in my opinion) by far the easiest and least messy way of doing things. This was the best price I could find. Easy-to-follow instructions, although "small print", so you can't really go wrong. Adapters included should you want to use direct in a radiator. Took a matter of minutes to use. Anyhow, job done for another year.

An absolute breeze.
We had our boiler serviced last week by British Gas and they broke a magnetic filter. The replacement was fitted two days later but the fitter had no inhibitor on board. The new filter has a drain valve that can also be used as a dosing port.Using FX1 Express the who process took under 90 second. Used to take ages when dosing via a radiator. Brilliant product and so easy to use. Thanks Fernox.

There is only a very tiny amount of liquid in there.
I didn’t realise there was only about a small cup full in there. If you have a mag filter then just buy a small bottle. Drain and clean the mag filter. Fill up with a bottle, job done at half the price. I can understand if you don’t have a mag filer or that you aren’t draining down the system that this would help. Other than this it’s a waste of your money. An expensive gimmick in my opinion.

Difficult to install but saves draining system water.
In a gravity fed system after turning off the lockshield and manual valves this comes with a tapered nozzle to screw into the threaded hole left when the bleed screw is completely removed. It is supposed to form its own thread. I couldn’t get it to work, it simply wouldn’t hold. Alternatively it is possible to remove the bleed plug or the alternate one and use the supplied threaded bsp adaptor. Unfortunately on the chrome ladder radiator I was working on the adaptor kept going in cross threaded, so I had to choose another, much older radiator, where the adaptor screwed in easily. Water will always come out when the plug is removed. With a thermostatic valve sometimes it may still let water through unless you have a service cap to screw it down completely. Having made sure the adaptor is tight, but don’t over tighten, the canister can be firmly screwed onto the plastic trigger and one or both valves can be opened. Squeezing the trigger injects the inhibitor. The canister will empty in around 30 seconds. Before removing the adaptor or unscrewing the canister make sure the valves are closed again or you’ll get a flood. Some liquid will come out. When the plug is replaced if it is old it could well leak and may need to have new sealant put on first. The instructions are printed on the side of the canister and are pitiful small diagrams, a detailed printed sheet would be much better.

Easy to install
Very easy to install through a TF1 filter. The heating system also runs quieter for some reason. All good.
