Technic Liebherr R 9800 Excavator 42100 Building Kit (4,108 Pieces)

About the experience its a massive set - so it will take time , but it is a really pleasent experience, hats off to the designers to make the whole process a seamless routine. Great details overall, the special parts for this assembly seemed to be really nicely made, nothing too small. 4000+ pieces is a challenge in itself - but everything is arranged and sorted neatly to follow the steps for the build. Once built and setup the movements are really precise- precise in terms of a LEGO set. And the assembly does seem to be really sturdy Moement of the caterpillar tracksis limited to few surfaces , but it works well on flat areas. its a great build for hobbiest's, or for young adults, I wouldnt recomment kids to work on it by themeselves as it requires quite a bit of patience. Drawback the app is a bit irritating at first to use, it doesnt seem refined to work on a touch screen device. The whole machine does require 12AA batteries- I really wish LEGO would just provide a rechargeable setup for this build. Shipping i got this shipped to India through Amazon.com- really fast convenient from the seller to ship it . but yes there will be a lot of delay at customs and usually they will open up the box to check the contents for "security purposes"- it is a risk but not much of a choice on that front.

Awesome set and great way to get motors and specialty parts

My third Technic and what fun they are to build! The engineers who design these Technic toys are incredibly smart. Instructions are well written but you must pay careful attention to every detail when building as missing one note may cause you to disassemble in order to correct the mistake. Luckily all the parts simply snap together so disassembling is not a big deal. The motors (5) and controllers (2) are all state of the art and work intuitively & flawlessly from an app on your phone.

I was unsure of the Liebherr when ordering but with it sitting on my table now it is great. They way they did the perspective in the pictures on the box I think made it look odd but in person it looks good. The mechanical functions all work well, are smooth and appropriately powered. Control with the cell app is good once set up. *** The cellphone APP needs work *** it was painful getting the Liebherr calibrated while building. I got stuck in an endless 'update firmware' cycle until I plugged in all motors to the battery hub (during the build you test each motor as its function is built). I hope that third party plans can use the APP and motor controls too.

This is an excellent model, despite it's size it is not overly challenging. It is an expensive model and you might want to think twice before purchasing. I used credit card points that I had saved for this purpose. You will have fun building it and it is awesome to operate. The motors do not currently work without the app while you could build something different with motors the app wouldn't know and it would be confusing to operate your model.

FIRST REVIEW (3/24/21) I am starting this review after completing the first 2 (that's right 2) bags and man it is huge. So far so good and it is good that you can test it as you go with the app. My usual complaints remain however. The instruction are vague and well suck. The print on the pages is hard to make out so counting holes is really hard and with this monster you have to be right all the time. Some of the instructions must be in the designer's imagination and are difficult to perform. They just seem to stop thinking when they make them. Overall, I like it but worth the price? I'll get back to you. SECOND REVIEW(3/29/21) Finished it the other day. I have to say I am amazed that everything worked as stated the first time. Being able to test the design as you build is a HUGE plus. I am finally able to use it to its fullest extent. Forward, reverse, left/right turn in both directions good. If I have one suggestion they need to improve the tractor system it is not as smooth as it should be but acceptable. Rotation is dead on. Operating the arm and bucket are also very good. The multiple ways to control it is also a HUGE plus. Thus, I raise it to 5 STARS. I am also getting the Volvo hauler as a companion. CHEERS!

I love this set, it was fun to build but left some sore thumbs with the little colored pins and the number of ones needed for this set. The "replayability" of the Control+ app make the model that much more fun to play with and get it to move round or pose it for display. FYI this requires 12X AA batteries for the 2 control boxes, which take 6X each, which are needed to have power through various build steps to function test the power functions and movement of assemblies. SO make sure to have those on hand when building this!

Un producto de LEGO como ninguno. Su calidad es notable desde la caja en la que vienen todas las piezas. 6 kilogramos aproximadamente de pura calidad. El modelo en sí es altamente recomendable para constructores LEGO avanzados y/o para aquellos que buscan un reto. Por el precio que pagas, obtienes además de las piezas para el modelo, 2 Smart hubs, y motores que puedes utilizar para MOCs (te sugiero la app Buwizz). Armar el modelo es un reto, empiezas primero por la estructura con las orugas, después la estructura superior, luego el brazo y finalizas con los detalles súper minuciosos que son gratificantes cuando ves el resultado final. La app LEGO technic (sugiero veas compatibilidad en la página de lego) funciona al 100%. Conforme vayas armando el modelo, el instructivo te mostrará cómo realizar las pruebas durante el proceso de armado y concluyes con la calibración del mismo. La app tiene retos para entretenerte por lo que además de que se ve genial como trofeo en casa, tiene jugabilidad. El único contra que le pondría sería que para jugar el modelo ocupas de manera obligada tener la app en tu celular y que los Smart hubs tengan baterías (12 baterías AA), ya que de lo contrario el modelo no lo podrás cambiar de posición una vez lo hayas concluido. En conclusión: por lo que pagas obtienes un gran modelo, muchas piezas si te gusta armar MOCs, Smart hubs y motores.

Take quite some times to build this monster excavator but lot of fun and I like the remote app to take full control. Most of all, my dogs love the shovel to bring dog food to them and they are excited to see it approaching!
