The ENR71 is specifically regular light. The XL Half Wound series for standard Long Scale 4 string bass, from lightest to heaviest, has: Super Light (ENR70), Regular Light (ENR71), Medium (ENR72), and Heavy (ENR73).

Q: Why are the short scales so much more expensive?

Not sure why. Maybe because there is much less demand.

Q: Will these work well on an Epiphone EB-0 short scale bass?

Yes, they should work fine on any 30 or 30.5" scale bass. I have them on my Squier VM Jaguar SS 30" and my Gretsch G2220 30.5" shorties. The only caveat being, they probably won't work on "string through" bodies or other bridges like "trapeze" tailpiece bridges where the ball end is recessed away from the bridge itself.
