A different kind of "Elliptical"
The Exerpeutic 1000XL has an attractive price point. This machine has pros and cons. To compare this to a high end elliptical at the gym almost seems unfair for the price you pay, yet, it's title compels that it is indeed an elliptical. comparing it to gym elliptical s reveals some drastic differences. You might expect to pay ten times this for a gym elliptical like Life Fitness or Precor. This type of elliptical being a smaller, lighter, more compact one, is made by many other manufactures like Ancheer all with a 13 inch stride. It's a different experience altogether from what you might get from a high end elliptical.I'm 230 lbs and 5'6", I do have bad knees which is why I purchased this vs. an treadmill to get a more low impact workout.Putting it together -Instructions were very clear, most parts marked right or left, bolts and screws well marked for where they go either in the package or already screwed into the holes where they belong. The difficulty of putting this together depends on your level of handiness. If you've put furniture together from the store, or a computer chair, or most anything else you'll be fine to do this alone. The tools that came with it get's the job done in about 3 to 4 hours. I recommend a phillips screw driver and a socket wrench or a T-handle Allen wrench set if you have one to expedite the put together. Also some extra high temperature grease for the arm assembly.Construction & operationThis product is durable. It states it's "heavy duty" and able to support upward of 300 lbs and it does exactly that. Initially the product was very quite especially having added extra grease to all moving parts. However at 30 days I have started noticing some creaking and cracking noises. Nothing too loud, but certainly not noiseless and it's not quiet even having used lock thread to keep the bolts tight. The LCD center console panel is very basic tracking calories and miles but for the price, to expect bluetooth or high end apps would be unrealistic. There is no cup holder which seems like a lacking but simple feature. The resistance is hand cranked using a dial.ProsThis machine can give you a decent workout if you're dedicated, once you get use to it unless you've already had an compact small elliptical of this style in which case you're probably already use to it. It's very easy to move around as you can tilt it forward and wheel it from place to place which is a MAJOR plus. It does not fold up but it's fairly light to dolly around.ConsThe 13" stride length is very short causing an almost "jerk like" sensation and making it somewhat difficult to get started with a workout. Once you get into a constant cycling motion it becomes easier but unlike a full sized elliptical you can't slow down too much or it gets into a jerk like movement. Having a 13" stride gives for a motion of almost jogging in place is the only thing I can compare it to. It's difficult to call it a stride as it feels more like pedaling. The downward slope of the foot pieces when striding forward makes an almost unnatural feel compared with high end elliptical at the gym. Where normally you might glide forward a with longer stride, here you'll have your feet turned downward and into a circular motion much like a bicycle. It's clear you won't get the same kind of work out in the gluteals or hamstrings that you will with other full sized elliptical's. You have to wear shoes when using this machine because your feet will get crammed against the front and you run the risk of falling off or causing injury. As stated above it has started making creaking and crackling noises after 2 weeks of daily use. Note, I have added extra high temperature grease to all moving parts and lock thread and used a torque wrench on several parts.OverallIf your looking for a light workout at home and not expecting it to be like a high quality elliptical at the gym this might be for you. If you have bad knees or a knee replacement or previous knee injury; you should reconsider. The 13" stride makes this feel so unnatural, it's like jogging in place with some arm resistance or using a bicycle with back and forth arm pieces. The higher you put resistance up the more jerk like motions you'll get on your knee unless you can maintain a constant and higher speed. On the flip side of that, the magnetic resistance works to put more pressure against your pedaling. I myself have to stop to adjust the hand crank resistance and it's extremely difficult to get going again especially at higher resistance.

Great elliptical for larger people
I was over 240 when I got this. It easily handles my weight with almost daily use. I did use the grease and loctite as recommended by others in the reviews. No issues yet!

Durable and heavy duty!
Couldn’t be happier with this machine! It’s heavy duty as advertised and really great quality for a home exercise machine. I’m about 152lbs and it can easily support my weight without any issues of tilting or being unbalanced. It’s really good value for the money and even comes with a heavy duty mat. It’s super easy to move around. My husband had no issues putting it together for me. Instructions looked daunting but maybe clear enough since I didn’t hear any complaints. He had it all set up within an hour. I am so happy with my new elliptical machine, and I’m so relieved to be able to stay healthy while staying at home during this pandemic. If you’re looking for a home exercise machine for your cardio needs, no doubt, this one delivers and does the job very well without necessarily breaking the bank. It has a smaller footprint yet durable and heavy duty. Highly recommended!

Missing screws and bolts
So where do I begin? I took my chances despite the bad reviews I read prior to purchasing and I regret this purchase big time. It was delivered on time but the worst part is opening the box and taking apart all the pieces to find out that the screw hardware package was nowhere to be found. I’m so disappointed. I usually don’t have an issue putting things together but missing pieces is definitely frustrating and blood boiling. I am beyond pissed I can’t use this machine. I was looking forward to using this during the lockdown and it’s no use. Amazon and the manufacturers won’t answer the phones. Worse amazon experience ever. I don’t recommend this item at all.

Great work out equipment
We use this daily. You can make it harder to use or easy to use. Works the whole body and is a great workout. It was very easy to assemble as well. I recommend getting the mat to help with noise and floor but the machine is not noisy

This is a good enough quality elliptical for the money
This is a good enough quality elliptical for the money. It’s crazy but running backwards is a little smoother than running forward on it. It does what it’s supposed to and isn’t a bad buy for the money. It’s also easy to assemble with the clear instructions that come with it.

Great at home workout
Very happy with this product. It is definitely not “gym quality“ but is nice to have for an at home workout. Building the equipment took about an hour and required some effort, but was not too difficult. The product is simple and doesn’t not take up too much space. It is easy to move because of the wheels it has On its underside. It comes with a mat to place under the equipment which provides good protection for your flooring. Works well, is sturdy. Would definitely recommend.

Definitely a beginner item.
Fitting is a bit off. The center post needs to turn to the right a bit so that I can mount the right pedal to the fly wheel (left has more more than enough space). This makes the front post screw entered at an angle. This is just an entry model, not heavy duty and lack any preset workout program. The equipment mat sent separately and of poor quality. Thinking of returning the whole thing....

Lower your expectations and its ok
Setting this up wasnt easy. Look for YouTube videos to assist you with that. Its way different from the ones of the gym and the experience is difference but yes its also way cheaper. I am not able to stay on it for more than 15 minutes as its harder than the regular ones i am used to. So far its good as i am in quarantine but cant wait to go back to gym.
