Great Upgrade For My Squier Strat
I got the "black" option, with the black pickup covers and knobs, for my silver Squier Affinity Strat. The guitar originally came with a white pickguard, white pickup covers and knobs. The black looks so good against the silver body!Honestly, I'm not very handy, but within the space of an hour, I had this pre-wired pickguard installed and working just fine.I actually didn't un-solder or re-solder anything. When removing the old guard, I was careful to leave a generous length of wire remaining at each of the three locations where I needed to "snip" the already-existing connections in order to free up and remove the old guard-- these would be the positive (white) and negative (black) wires connected to the guitar's output jack, and also the black ground wire that runs back to the tremolo claw.I then matched up the two black wires and one white wire (extending from the new unit) with their "counterpart wires" running off the guitar's output jack (1 black, 1 white) and tremolo claw grounding point (1 black), carefully stripped back sufficient insulation to be able to twist each matching pair together securely, and wrapped each of those three connections with black electrical tape.I then put the new guard in place, being careful to keep all of my wire connections free from undue stress, and screwed it on; it fit nicely. I do realize that soldering skills would have come in very handy here, but I figured that once the new guard was securely in place, my "electrical tape" connections weren't goin' anywhere, so what the heck.I used the Squier this afternoon to do a solo gig at a local memory care facility, paired up with my old super-portable Roland Cube Street amplifier. Just one guitar, one voice. Sixties and seventies stuff that I grew up loving. It turned out good, and my newly upgraded Squier sounded really nice!Seems like I tend to stay parked on either the neck pickup (by itself) or the bridge pickup (by itself), depending on the song, and both of those positions sounded really good! Definitely more lively and well-defined than the original pickups. I don't often use the middle position or either of the "combination" positions-- just personal preference (although all of them sound as they should). I'm very happy with this product!

Looks great, sounds great, awesome value, fun project
I had to do a bit more than just solder 2 wires to fit this prewired pickguard onto my early 2000s Squier Strat, since no two Strat clones are exactly the same, I would definitely NOT blame Musiclily's prewired pickguard for that. Despite some of the reviews, the pickups actually sound really good in my opinion, maybe not better than extremely high end Seymour Duncans or Fender's pro series single coils, but this is a huge upgrade for most of the cheap Strats or Strat clones I have played. The SSS configuration is what I got, and is perfect for playing clean, blues, or classic rock, and it sounds awesome with a RAT style distortion effect. Most would recommend humbuckers for playing with really high gain distortion like metal or punk music rather than this configuration. Overall this was a really fun project, and got me really into modding my Strat, I will probably be buying Musiclily's bridge and tuners next.I don't think anyone should be dissuaded from purchasing this just because you might need to do a bit of planning or some extra soldering to get everything to fit your particular Strat style guitar; but I wanted to include this just as an example for some modifications you MIGHT need to do. For reference, this was my first time soldering, and thought it was a really fun project. I was able to accomplish everything in one evening. Here are modifications I had to make to fit the prewired pickguard in my 2005(ish) Squier Strat:- Insulated the electronics cavity with copper tape (EM Conductive paint would have been better) since apparently there was absolutely no EM insulation on the body before.- Had to rewire output jack since it wasn't possible to separate the hot/ground wires that were jacketed together. (used a wire from my Squier stock ceramic pickup as a patch, but probably could have prevented the extra step if I had noticed sooner)- The selector switch wouldn't fit in the body, I had to remove the selector switch from the pickguard and flip it around, then re-solder the wires the opposite way to get it to fit with enough space away from the body.

Brought my old Strat back to life
My old Strat (copy) broke a few years back.... no sound. I thought about taking in for repair, but the estimates were pretty pricey. I saw a couple YouTube videos on using a "loaded" pick guard to restore a broken strat. Given the excellent price, I ordered one. The toughest part of the install was finding my soldering iron to solder the 3 connector wires. I'm happy to report, my old guitar sounds better than when it was new. A great product at a great price.

Good sound, good quality, easy install
You get a lot for the money. The electronics work as they should and the pickups make classic strat sounds. What more do you want?

Easy installation, great quality for price
I’ve already purchased one of these from the same company with hot rails-style pickups and I’ve been happy with them for the months I’ve used them. So when I decided to get another for a different project guitar, I knew what to expect and it did not disappoint. Soldering and installation was a cake walk, and they sound very nice in my baritone strat conversion. They add a really nice grind and breakup when used with heavy fuzz and they’re perfect with light overdrive and some reverb for that spaghetti western sound. Even the single-coil feedback was less noticeable than in my P90s loaded gretsch. You aren’t gonna get another loaded pickguard for this price, I regularly play two different guitars with these and there’s no compromise or downside in my experience. It might seem like cheap chinese crap but the value is honestly excellent.
