It got very hot for the initial setup, I haven’t cooked on it yet. I did notice that the whole unit gets hot (knobs and all), but it may be because I was not cooking on it. It was just the initial turn on that they suggest you do before cooking on it. It takes several minutes to cool down. Be careful. I will do an update as soon as I cook on it. It appears to be a good unit. 8/1/2021 Update: Cooked hamburgers yesterday (well done). Worked perfectly. The knobs did not get hot. We did not have to use the max heat and it cooked very fast. This single burner unit gets much hotter than the double burner unit that we purchased previously. I would say the thick burgers cooked in about 10 minutes or less. Be ready to cook when you turn the unit on, follow the instructions, always have a pot/pan on the unit when you turn it on. This is a very good unit.

Heats up fast, and does the job, also cleans really easy. Why I bought it I cook with iron skillets sometimes, but don't like using them on my glass top stove, so this works out great, or if I'm cooking fish or some things that leave an odor in the house, I cook it outside on the deck. .

We loved our first one so we bought a second one! We use it all the time when we do Hotpot gathering at our house! Functionally, it heats up so fast and very easy to use. My only concern is there is a burning smell when we first turn it on. We knew it did that from our first purchase so we made sure to turn on the second hot plate outside and make sure the smell is gone and everything is ok. We still can’t figure out why it smells like that in the beginning. Cord length is a little short so we always need an extension cord. We’ve had our first hot plate for a couple of years now so I’d say it’s got a good build quality. We like how portable and easy to store. Besides the smell, it’s great!

I have used Cusimax electric burner several times, I love it. Being able to control the on and off is great also being able to control the temperature control is wonderful. It heats up and cooks perfect. The size of the burner works great with large and small cookware. Also being portable and very well made is great

I received my hotplate about two weeks ago and have used it multiple times, happy with all of them. Heats up nicely and cooks evenly. I want to address some of the complaints in other reviews. First, with every product there are going to be a few that just don't work. Return them and get one that does. If you do the registration process (email them a picture and your order #) described in the product instructions, they have a good warrant in case of problems. Second, it does heat up slowly but that is true of all electric burners, hotplates or stovetops. It takes a learning curve to figure out what settings you want but that's life. It got plenty hot to fry things, lower temps are perfect for simmering. Most stoves just say "high, medium, low" but this one has numbers. Easy to figure that out. Also, once hot it does stay hot and even after you turn it off. That's a function of it being heat-retaining cast iron instead of some cheaper metal. When I make eggs or pancakes, for example, I turn the burner off halfway through the first side and then flip them and let the retained heat finish side two. One thing to keep in mind is that the pan will be HOT so set it on a heat-resistant surface until it's cooled down. That's in the instructions. I find you get better results if you read them and pay heed. The unit itself is nice and stable, sturdy and heavier than most hotplates because it's cast iron. I also love that there's no gap around the burner for food or liquid to spill into and ruin everything. It takes a full-size skillet, it's not tiny, but it doesn't take up a huge amount of counterspace either. Yes, the off and on rub off the control knob pretty quickly but I put a little + and - on there with black tape and problem solved. Also, the big orange light when you turn it on is a pretty good clue. Read and follow the instructions and hopefully you'll be as happy with yours as I am with mine.

The instructions said it would smoke a little on the first use. This unit smoked allot and now does not work at all. Would not recommend this fire hazard to anyone!

Update: sorry it took so long. This company stood behind its product and immediately shipped me out another. They requested I test the new replacement out, which I did . The item boils water, easily and maintains temperature. While I have not yet had a moment for canning I am hopeful it will be capable, as this is why it was originally purchased. I would like to use it a bit more before potentially causing issue by using my 22q tfal canner on it. I will definitely be purchasing from this seller again in the future. After getting a new glass top stove/range, I decided to purchase this hot plate to use with my cast iron cookware in an effort to protect my new stove top. Although the hot plate will work just fine for most, I found it didn’t measure up to my hopes with my cast iron cookware. It simply didn’t get hot enough to fry eggs to the crispiness that can only be achieved with cast iron. It failed to caramelize while searing scallops and other foods. Again, it will work well for most (Dorm rooms, camping, etc), but it doesn’t perform well with cast iron in my experience.

My kitchen is under renovation and I haven't had a working stove for a month. I bought this to use in my laundry room/temporary kitchen. It's perfect for the job - it's very stable on the counter and the controls are very clear with a separate on/off and temperature knob; it gets extremely hot for stir frying/or a steak etc if desired or boiling water for pasta; and on a low setting it's suitable for soups or a slow-cooking stew. I placed it on a large baking sheet covered in tin foil to help make any splattering easier to clean up.

I like this product because does what the advertisement said. I love truthful marketing so the customer doesn’t have to go through the process of returning or giving up on what they thought might accomplish.
