Perfect replacement , easy install, great price !
It was perfect for my 2 piece Koehler . This is an improved version of the original product that is much better designed. You may need a little “elbow grease” per-say to get get this twisted in place with the brand new gasket, but that’s the whole point! It’s seals the tank and you get a strong and powerful flush. Great price and fast shipping

Finally found the correct valve with the perfect fit
After trying several different valves from the hardware store for my toilet, I finally found this one, the exact part Kohler calls out on the parts list. It was not easy to install, but that’s the fault of Kohler's design, not this part. This is an exact fit for my toilet.

Soaking Gasket in Hot Water is Key Install Tip
The key installation tip is to soak the gasket in hot water. I dropped it in boiling water, took the gasket out and pressed it with a rolling pin, and returned to boiling water again. After about 5 minutes floating, I was able to place gasket on flush assembly and insert the foot nearest the fill valve first. The two feet opposite the fill valve dropped in and "twist" and you are done. I let mine cool (while I celebrated) and the flush assembly has worked perfectly since.

What a challenge; do your research.
First off, Kohler is a good brand and really recommend you go to their website. For the toilets, stamped on the inside of the toilet tank is your model number info; there also is a critical bar code label and both of these are key to get the information needed. (See photo) This works well in the chat when exchanging info with the live person on the other end. In my case, “Rebecca” saved me a lot time in identifying the correct parts (filler kit, flush valve, flapper). Can not emphasize enough to ensure you have the correct kit identified as there are too many choices to “guess”.In my case, I needed the flush valve kit. It already includes the Gasket GP83996 so no need to buy another one. BTW, the Kohler/Amazon site has the dimensions incorrect for this gasket misleading you to believe the kit sent too small a gasket (the dimensions are for the card the gasket is attached to). Here is where the “fun” begins. The plastic tube has 3 triangular gripper feet that grasps the opening and must be maneuvered into the opening and twisted to secure the seal. Well, good luck doing that “out of the box” as getting the tube with the new gasket installed is a nightmare. After several frustrating attempts it was winning…. BTW, the reason I had to replace this part was 2 of the three gripper feet were totally broken off (found 1 of the 2 loose feet in the tank) and when researching various YouTube videos numerous examples had at least one of them broken off. Bad design by Kohler and this is not a fun DIY task. There was one reviewer that shared a key secret; he suggested soaking the gasket in extremely hot water (placing a weight to keep it submerged) for at least 10 minutes. This makes the gasket more flexible. I also decided to take a bit (like maybe 1/16) off the foot of the one that goes into the hole last which together these worked to get the part properly placed and seated (slightly twisting the tube ).Overall an unpleasant ordeal taking several days to accomplish but I now know more about Kohler toilets and parts than anyone should need.

How to install…
First, remove the red flapper (carefully), and do not put on the grey donut.Turn off the water to the toilet, dry fit and twist a few times to figure the angles. Put your fingers up underneath the interior rim and feel where the three triangle tabs start and end up.Now: put on the donut, try and put two of the tabs in “appropriately” by pushing down and jamming the “donut” towards side (I think I ended up doing away from the water filler first).Basically you have to compress and shift the two tabs to one side before you can compress and slide the final tab into the underside… and then you need to kindof twist stuff so that the triangle opening is retaining the three triangle tabs. That’s why I suggest removing the flapper so you have free access to check how the tabs are doing from underneath. It’s not easy to get everything squished and lined up, and then you need to do the final push and twist. I think it would be pretty easy to mess up the install and break one of the tabs, as there’s a lot of tension until you can get things twisted “deeper” so there’s less tension on the triangle tabs. Before twisting fully (counter clockwise), re-place the flapper valve and then finish the install otherwise the nub will be up against the toilet wall and you won’t be able to get the flapper on.It’s one of those things that’s like 5-10 minutes easy after you’ve done it 2-3 times, but it’ll take like 30-60 minutes your first time through.Good luck, be careful not to break the tabs!
