Absolutely the (current) best solution for a bike rear-view camera
This is the best solution for a wireless camera for bikes. It is very, very affordable for what you get. The unit sends you a BUNCH of extras. I'm going to review this as a person who uses it specifically as a rearview camera for a bike. It definitely is versatile for other applications (helmet cam, etc), but I can't speak to those. The GOOD: -The most affordable WIRELESS camera system for bikers. The SJ100 is cheaper, but I much prefer this unit for the fact that there's two batteries, more than one button (THANK GOD), and it lasts about 1.5 hours per battery -Pretty small! This is a fairly compact camera, and it's smaller than a GoPro -The camera quality is pretty good, especially for the cost/size -LOTS of additional materials for different kinds of mounts, including click-on mounts, sticker mounts, and different housing options -They give you everything you need- even a micro SD card! The FINE: -The camera is not actually waterproof or water resistant, but you can use a waterproof housing (included), which I did. This unit is actually a bit of a chore to get the camera into and out of consistently, which becomes a bit of a negative when you get to the battery time -It does not do image stabilization particularly well. In fact, I wouldn't say it did it at all. -The app is decent, but nothing remarkable. You also have to set up a dedicated WIFI signal each time you turn on the unit to have it connect to your phone. Thus, if you're leaving from home you'll probably have to disconnect from your existing internet to have it catch this WIFI connection The BAD: -The battery gives me about an hour and a half of use on one charge, even if I'm just using it as a view screen and not recording. However-- this is better than the SJ100 by about 50%, and they give you an extra battery. -There is no good way to get it to connect to a bike without modifying the unit. Sure, you could use zip ties or trust the adhesive, but I can guarantee you that the former is ugly and the latter is absolutely going to fall off. I chose to literally screw it into my bike fender and bolt it on, but I'm sure that a good epoxy would also be an option. -The waterproof housing is pretty tough to open. Like, it's a real pain. And when you have to open that up to change the batteries, it does get pretty obnoxious. In all, I ended up bolting it directly on to my bike tire guard (literally drilling through one of the mounting bases to do it), but that worked great for me. It stayed exactly where it should, and there really wasn't much "shake" from that application. Definitely ended up picking up mostly tire noises, but the picture was fairly good quality throughout. I thought that this was a good solution as a rear camera, and indeed it is! But there are still some silly hoops you have to jump through for these budget solutions. I would LOVE a version that uses bluetooth signals instead of dedicated WIFI, so that I don't have to disconnect from my home WIFI to use it. The picture quality is good enough, and I thought it did remarkably well for night rides. In all, this is an above-average product for use on a bike. I ended up using an old iPhone as a dedicated screen mounted to the bike (and not having it auto-connect to any other WIFI signals).

Awesome action camera for many uses indoors and outdoors
Bought this SJCAM 4000 wifi with two extra batteries and a few accessories a week ago to take my walks with my dog, my bike rides, and to record my dogs acting silly with each other in the house. It comes with one battery installed in the camera and two extra batteries. I suggest purchasing the dual charger for the extra batteries so that you will have extra batteries available because the first battery only lasts a little over an hour. This is my first action camera and I truly like it for what it was purchased for. It's lightweight and do not require a masters degree to figure out how to operate it. It's easy to use. It's Wifi which allows you to use your phone to remotely operate the camera while taking pictures or video. You can adjust the view so that you don't have to view everything with a wide fish eye effect. I'm not able to compare it to the GoPro because I've never owned one. I will say this SJCAM takes great pictures and videos and can be purchased at a reasonable price. Another plus is it comes with a few accessories and two additional batteries. There are concerns about it being authentic. Mine came with a hologram sticker where there was a scratch off with a code underneath which was inserted on the SJCAM website and said to be authentic. It also was able to be synced with the SJCAM app on my SG5 phone. Fast shipping and great packaging. Pros: Can be used as a webcam Can be used as a dashcam Lightweight Easy to use Attaches to arm, head, helmet, chest, belt, surfboard, handlebars, your dog, on a tripod, etc with the right accessories. Cons: Sound quality is subpar in the waterproof case. Very muffled Sound quality is not good without the case. Can purchase (Rob Nunn from Youtube says = Add a Lav or Lapel Mic like the Audio Technica ATR3350 and a seperate audio recorder like the Zoom H1) It gives the SJCAM 4000 Wifi a good sound recording. I am pleased with my action camera and will enjoy taking pictures and videos of many life events.

Great for amateurs and maybe even professionals
This is a very good camera for amateurs like me and maybe even for professionals. I used it at the beach, in the salty water, in the pool and in the air (on a zipline). Pros: -Good picture quality -Good battery life -Easy to operate (with the buttons or connected to phone) -Updates the time on the device when connected to smartphone -Pictures and movies capabilities underwater. It even has an underwater mode, which I didn't use, but I made great pictures. -Great case for underwater use. I read some reviews about the camera not being able to pickup sounds when in the waterproof case. But in some situations it recorded some sound (good enough to hear water or your voice sometimes) Cons: -Doesn't have a small internal battery to keep settings (for example the time), when replacing the battery while in the action all pictures taken after that have the default time (1 januari 2016 or so). For me this was a problem, because I didn't want to use the camera with my phone while snorkeling as the camera is waterproof and my phone isn't. This is why I removed 1 star. -the device is a little slow to respond when using the buttons to operate -downloading the pictures is a hassle when using the provided app (android), you have to select each picture/movie separately ->workaround is to remove your sdcard and place it in you pc/laptop -gets very hot and drains the battery when downloading the pictures using the provided app Even with these cons (most of them have a workaround), the only real con for me was the date being reset every time the battery was replaced.

Action-cam Dash-cam?? (Nope)
Edit #2 9/2025 the camera overheated so bad it actually melted. About 5 months old, less than an hour of use per week. And I park in a covered car port, covered from the sun. The lipo battery puffed up too, If that explodes it can start a fire. Wasted $160. Original Review: I bought this SJ8 PRO 100% for a dashcam since my 2025 Bronco Sport has a dash tray with an M6-bolt accessory mount, and two type-c USB ports (check pics). Once this action-cam is in Car Mode it automatically turns on AND STARTS TO RECORD once you start your car and then powers off when you turn off your car. I have mine set to auto-off after 10 minutes just to capture any footage after I walk away from my car. I live in an apartment complex so it's just an attempt of a theft deterrent. And I'm still trying to figure out the motion detection settings, I don't think every option, such as motion detection, is available at the highest resolution. I'll have to experiment with the resolutions, so we'll see if I regret this camera as a dashcam. Motion detection is 100% required and I can't turn it on at the moment, hence the 3 star review (now 1 star). My 2K Viofo mini is an amazing dashcam (with great motion detection) but I don't like having something suction cupped to my windshield with a wire dangling down to the dashboard. I feel like that's a messy, outdated concept. But as far as the camera goes, it records amazing 4k videos. And the app is fine even though it has horrible reviews, I can watch all my driving videos on my phone. I'll update this review if anything goes wrong (as a dashcam). EDIT 9/2025 It does NOT have motion detection like the cheaper version does. And the phone app will be annoying if I'm actually dealing with a car accident and need to pull up the footage quickly. To see the video in HD you have to download the video to your phone over the cameras slow Wi-Fi. It takes about 10 minutes for one video. The app only shows it in SD, 720p, so it's a little blurry, you can't read license plates.

The best for the money!
I purchased an SJ4000 many years ago for use as a helmet cam for my commute to and from work on my motorcycle. It cured the problem of road rage from drivers on the freeway. Once they saw the camera, they straighened up their road manners. I have several clips of road rage in progress and one where the perpetrator came back and tried to intimitate me for recording him trying to ram another car. I just pointed to the camera and he tried to run away in traffic. For the cost, it lasted 5 years and produced quality recordings at 1080P/30fps. I never had any issues with it. Don't buy a cheaper off brand camera. This one has the quality you need and want. If you can afford it, buy the SJCAM pro model, however, this will work for any recording. This new model has a better chipset and better battery life, and provides excellent recordings.

Low volume, unable to zoom once recording started
Bought this to replace an 6-year old camera because I like the Wi-Fi feature and also hope to have a higher resolution picture quality. This action camera is very similar to most on the market. The price is decent and I don’t have to worry about my kids breaking it. The camera was nicely packaged and the picture quality was decent. There are couple of issues (not defects) that I ended up returning the camera. Most of these were based on my comparison against my old camera that I bought 6 years ago. 1. The camera doesn’t pick up audio well, even when it is not in the waterproof case. 2. Once recording started, you can’t really adjust zooming in and out unless you stop the recording. (My old camera was able to do that - a function that I found very useful because you may not always set up the right zoom level especially when you are trying to record a live game). 3. The Wi-Fi feature is unreliable. Even I am sitting literally right next to it, my phone would still sometimes cutting in and out of the connection and it requires you to connect to the Wi-Fi SSID that the camera broadcast. When it does work, it’s choppy and couple of times I ended up stopping the recording remotely without realizing it while recording my kids’ games). I am sure these might not be issues for everyone but I thought I would just stick with my old camera for now (which seems to be more practical than all the bells and whistles of this one) or look for a better one that fits our needs. Hope the review is helpful to other parents.

Works great, takes good images and video, housing did not leak - very happy with purchase
Wow. What a great product, with detailed camera images, and a waterproof housing that works (so far) - and all for under $50. At the moment, I’m very happy with this purchase. I wanted an underwater camera that I could lower from my boat to see what was growing on the bottom in order to stay away from anchoring in eel grass. I built a small weighted frame (see photo), used one of the many included mounts to affix it to my frame, started it in video mode, and lowered it to the bottom. I have taken several 2-3 minute videos that have shown me the bottom. No leaks. The camera controls are functional on the waterproof housing, but small and would be difficult to activate while wearing wet suit gloves. But if you start the video before you dive, I think you will have over 2 hours of filming - more than your tank will have air! I only glanced at the small paper manual, but by playing around with the camera for a few minutes, I quickly figured out the controls. There are many settings to choose from if you want to fine tune its operation. It is small, but is very good quality. I bought the package with a 32 GB memory card included. I found that I could connect the camera directly to my Mac computer using a USB-C cable, and after choosing the “mass storage” option that then appears on the camera screen, it mounted as a volume on the Mac, and I could drag and drop image files and .mp4 video files to my desktop. I could then play the videos on my large format computer screen. Awesome. Each of my 2-3 minute video files were under 200 MB, so my 32GB card could hold over 100 short video clips. Your performance may be different depending on the video settings you use. I have not tried the WiFi on the camera. The kit comes with a second battery, and a small battery charger with a USB-C connector. A USB-A to USB-C cable is provided to plug into a USB-A source of power and the battery was fully charged in under 2 hours.
