Effective Pool Vacuum
Added this unit to our pool to keep the bottom clean. Works well. It follows a random path (sort of like an automatic vacuum cleaner), so it creates a checkerboard like pattern cross-crossing its paths. Eventually it covers most of the pool, but you still will need to manually vacuum some areas if you really want your pool clean. The unit we bought came with 4 wheels which allow it to climb slightly up the walls of the pool - it hikes up on the rear wheels, but that is as far up as it goes. The hose is composed of 10 approximately 3' lengths (about 38" each), so you have a little over a 30 foot range (you lose a little since each length has to be inserted into the previous length). Be sure to measure from where you will connect the hose (the vacuum pump connection) to the farthest corner of the pool to insure it will be long enough. I am not sure if you can buy extra hose. Most likely you will have extra hose and can simply not use one or more of the hose sections. We had 3 sections extra. When installing this vacuum be sure your pump is off and that you fill the hose with water and submerge the unit before turning the pump back on, otherwise you can get air in your pump which might damage it.If you get this vacuum I'd suggest you also buy a vacuum brush to vacuum the spaces it misses - these fit the same hose and use a pole you probably already have.

Good Product!
I purchased this for an 18,000-gallon pool that was built in the 60s. It took a little bit of jury-rigging to get the fitting to sit correctly in the skimmer; otherwise, assembly was simple. The 4 wheels give it more oomph to climb from the 9 ft deep bottom back up the sides. So far, so good. It cleans the bottom and sides nicely.

It works well!!! Small and explosive pool vacuum. It does the job!! I had this brand before and tried different brands. I went back to this type of pool vacuum.

Excellent investment
I just received this pool sweep yesterday and I’m very happy with it. It took about 15 minutes to get set up. Connecting the hoses takes some strength but otherwise it’s really easy. I never realized how poorly my old pool sweep was working until I got this one. It cleaned my entire pool in about an hour on a much lower filter speed than what the old MX6 needed. This means that I can run my filter much lower for longer and save some power useage. As long as this pool sweep doesn’t break for a while then it’s an excellent investment.

Trying something new.
Been using a Navigator for 20 years, and just kept rebuilding it, but it slowed down and didn't move. Pool guy recommended this as the best selling pool vacuum so I though why not try it. Did the full clean on the DE filter, baskets, everything else and plugged it in. Instructions say like 11-14 rpm but even with filter system controls almost maxed out it only turns 8 rpm so it won't climb the wall. When I maxed out the controls and moved everything through the vacuum it only made it to 10 rpm. Who knows. It's doing a great job cleaning the bottom. So far, so good.

What a piece of junk
Purchased this in March, 2024. Now June. Used it maybe 6 times. Put it in the pool today and it won't move. Pulled it out and took the side wheels off and all the ball bearings fell out on both sides. The plastic retainer where they ride is completely chewed up. Cheap China junk. There goes $400. Will never buy another Hayward product again.Update: Since I couldn't return it as it was past the 30 day window (imagine that!) I invested $100 in parts to rebuild it. Not only were the wheel bearing assemblies toast but also the rear axle bearing assembly and the steering gear bearing assembly. After rebuilding it I've used it twice and now, July 11th, it just sits on the bottom of the pool. The turbine is spinning but the wheels aren't turning although I can turn them by hand. Note that I don't leave this in the pool 24/7 but put it in and out as needed. The pool is a chlorine water pool. Have emailed both Hayward and the seller looking for resolution and waiting on response. What a cheap product. Note that prior to this I had a Hayward Pool Vac XL for about 8 years that I only had to do a little maintenance every few years until it finally got to the point of no return. I purchased the 2-wheel version based on the positive reviews but I am seriously not impressed. At all.
