Uni M41010.26 Shift Pipe Lock Drafting 0.4mm Pencil, Silver Body with Green Accent

Been on the lookout for some really awesome looking Drafting Lead pencils.I will refrain from comparing this to other lead pencils due to the uniqueness of design and usage. You may notice that I posted a almost "similar" review for the 0.7 mm variant of this lead pencil. This is because both lead pencils are practically identical with the exception of color and lead Type 0.5mm/0.7mm chambered in.Each Lead pencil comes with 2 in the Barrel and 1 in the Chamber.>>>>>USAGE<<<<<For starters, here is how you use this: (Assuming the tip of lead pencil is facing down and NOT extended out)-Twist right, you will feel one click, and slide the barrel down to push out the tip, and rotate once more and you will feel another click.-After you feel the second click the pencil is now ready to use.To retract simply do it in reverse:-Twist left, you will feel one click, and the internal spring will retract the tip, and rotate once more and you will feel another click.-After you feel the second click the pencil is now ready to be put away.>>>>>Design/Build Quality<<<<<-The tip as well as the grip and clip is full metal. Some parts of internals are metal.-Everything else is plastic.-At the top is a plastic cap, this is removable. There is a 3mm wide hole at top. Not sure why that is there, but once you remove this cap there is a black eraser underneath. The Eraser is removable.-Internal barrel can hold a maximum of 3-5 leads + 1 in the Chamber. Anymore than 5 and you will risk jamming the chamber.-The blue part of the 0.5 mm lead pencil is a slightly clear blue tinted plastic.-Weight distribution is oriented where you write. So there is little weight where the lead pencil rests on your hand between the index finger and thumb.-When the metal tip is protracted, you get roughly 4mm extended out and this is not including the lead that will also be protracting out.-a DOWNSIDE to this is that you have to retract the lead BEFORE you retract the metal tip. Otherwise the lead will stick out even if the metal tip is recessed into the pencil.-as of now i am unable to completely disassemble the lead pencil without breaking the internals.>>>>Bottom-Line<<<<-I am a PENTEL lead user and I specifically choose HB for all my lead usage purposes, have been using PENTAL HB lead since i was in junior high. I cringed when I tried to use the included lead that came with this pencil. The included lead is what i believe to be between 2H and F. Because I use HB (soft lead), 2H - F (are both hard lead variants with 2H being harder/stiffer). So when i tried to write, it felt like rubbing my nails on a chalkboard.-AFTER i ditched the chambered lead (total of 3) and reinserted the PENTEL HB lead, it felt PERFECT/GREAT/SMOOTH.Great Pencil to use, even better if you like to stick pencils into your pocket or someplace where you may accidentally stab yourself.I have to make sure to always retract the lead before retracting the metal tip.I only wish that the entire pencil was full-metal and not just the grip and tip.

Great pencil but the pocket clip breaks off entirely to easily

Great pencil with a unique locking mechanism. Has a good weight to it and writes well.
