More applications-oriented rather than pure theoretical derivations. Great reference for the working engineer.

Pros: This text, unlike the "2500 Solved Problems" gives a nice description of what's going on before the problem sets so you have a reference point before jumping straight into calculations. A nice reference for extra problems if your homework assignments are slim and few. Great for getting a little extra practice before an exam.Cons: Like the "2500 Solved Problems" text, this also uses BG units way too much. We can all complete a unit conversion, Schaum, so let's focus on the concepts and cut it out with this insanity. If your engineering program emphasizes BG units, by all means buy this text. If you almost exclusively use SI units, you're only going to be interested in doing about half of the problems (of which there are only a few to begin with). A lot of the problems recommend MathCad for solving, which I don't use (nor am I interested in purchasing it just to do problems from a supplemental reference text).
