Mirage Speakers MX HOME THTR SYS NA 1WATT MX 5.1 Home Theater System

I purchased this system to downsize from larger, older speakers and have had it set up for several months now. The sound is crisp and clean and easily fills my rather large living room (13' x 23'). The sound from the subwoofer is amazing for its size, however it doesn't have quite the same clarity and punch that my old 12" sub did with half the wattage. I think it is a worthwhile trade off though, since the Mirage sub is pretty much invisible and still sounds great. My only other complaint about the system is that when watching movies or television, the voices are often not loud enough, even with the center channel gain turned way up. I will likely end up purchasing a dedicated center channel to remedy this.Overall, this is an excellent system for the money (just over $400 on sale) and the speakers are as unobtrusive as you'll find. Although the sound quality will not match a good set of tower speakers, there is very little compromise involved for such compact packaging.

I've been looking for small, powerful speakers with great sound quality and that's what I got. I use these speakers first for what they are meant, a surround sound system and second to listen to live steaming music from Pandora.I must say that part of my instant and overwhelming love of these speakers are in part based on what they are replacing, a 5.1 mini JBL system. I had that system for 10 years and always loved how it performed even though I knew it could be out done. About 3 years ago I decided I would replace the JBL system and after reading the reviews the Mirage MX 5.1 seemed my best option. The price was the only thing that held me back. When the price dropped on Black Friday this year I jumped at it.I'm the production manager for a national jazz festival and I know what a good professional sound system sounds like. I also know that any system worth it's weight will need to be adjusted for the space it's in. I followed the speaker placement described in the manual to the letter placing all speaker close or exactly to what the manual suggested. I then took both manuals, for the Mirage MX and my amp, a Sony STR-DN1010, to one of my sound engineers. I know what it should sound like I just don't know how to get there. He walked me through some of the adjustment and what to expect on my AV receiver and the Mirage MX subwoofer. I can't stress enough on how important this was. Night and day difference. Let me just say here, any reviews that aren't 5 stars are because these little beauties or the receiver they are connected to were not adjust correctly.Pros - Quality, size and by all means sound.Cons - I really can't think of any.

I bought this system and tried it for a week. The systems sub is very quiet (like its not even there) even when changing the settings on the reciver. The design is very nice, the components are small and discrete. The other problem was that the speakers couldnt be turned up louder than normal listening volume. The reciver that i was running with it was a Yamaha 7.2 (also had bookshelf speakers running with it) These speakers were not worth the price they were sold for, they should be sold at like $400 dollars. I read all the other reviews and they all stated that this system was great but the system I got was not worth it.

I have two month with this speakers and I am very pleased. These speakers produce excellent sound and they are very well made. The high gloss black finish give them a nice fancy look. The subwoofer produce nice deep bass for the size, now be advise if you have a large room like my self a second sub will be very handy. I purchase two set since I built a 7.2 setup and got them for less than $500 per set. I was really amaze how this thing came packed they were wrapped in nice cotton pouches which you can use to wipe the dust or finger prints.The only cons I have is that these speaker are not great for center channel, I already new that since I did a lot of research on this speakers. I replace the center channel with the Mirage Os3 center channel is about $400 but worth every penny. Also note this are surround speaker they will not perform well for regular music, in other words they will not sound loud like a regular stereo, is playing music is not your primary use for these speakers I will highly recommend for surround that's hat they are made for. You can try various setting depending on your receiver to see which one match your criteria for regular music, on mines I have it set up on stereo 7 channel which works well for me. I bought these speakers for my living room, 10x20' or so. I was worried they wouldn't be loud enough, or that I'd have to turn it all the way up to make it loud. These are some of the most crisp speakers I've heard in a while, and plenty loud enough for the living room, and other big rooms. The bass isn't window rattling, but it blends in so well with the rest of the system, and the other speaker, everything sounds so natural. I would highly recommend these to any of my friends. It goes as loud as I like it, and then has more to spare. The size of the speaker makes them unimposing on the wall, and is a pleasant surprise to anyone who hears them "those are really loud for tiny speakers"

I knew that these would be small, but the subwoofer really blew me away. It is ridiculously small, but the sound that comes out of it is incredible. obviously it can't compete with higher-end big subs, but it certainly blows any cheaper sub out of the water. The whole set for $400 is a steal and their is no other competition for the price that can compete.

Sounds great for such a small package. The sub is also very powerful and looks much better than my floorstanding speakers these replaced.

Great speakers so far. Mirage has always made quality products, and I'm very happy with these.
