A great DIY' tool
Bought this tool in 2021, I've Used it on multiple vehicles, toyota, jetta, ram truck, i think that's it... It still works well, i maintain about 4 cars, on average, and this has been a very helpful tool. Could use a "C" Clamp. But having the right tools is better and easier. 5 Stars!

Makes the job go smoother and easier.
This tool works exactly as you would expect. There are some other reviews that mention the magints are not strong enough on the wider plates but I did not have any issue with the plates staying on. I used the on the front calipers of my 2018 F-150 calipers and this tood worked well, the only issue I ran into was that this tool did not expand far enough by itself to calaps the calaper pistons so I used one of the old brake pads I had removed as a shim to get the additional width needed on my trucks calipers and this little guy did a great job. This is not a professional grade tool but it will most definitely do the job if you just need it to do a brake job at home every now and again. I highly recommend this tool for any weekend warrior out there. I have always used a big pair of channel lock pliars I have but I decided I would try this tool when I stumbled across it on Amazon for a cheap price, and I must say, money well spent. I will definately be using this tool to do my brake jobs on my personal trucks from now on.

Great for the DIYer. 1 and 2 Piston Calipers
Remember: This ratchet requires pressure to expand/retract. If used properly, it works great and makes compressing the pistons extremely easy. A magnetic extension piece snaps on/off for use with 1 and 2+ piston brakes, though it was a bit too thick for my 1 piston rear brakes even at its thinnest setting. Decent, China quality similar to Harbor Freight tools. Probably won’t last long in a mechanics shop, but seems like it will last a while in the typical DIYers garage with some care. Recommend for any brake job DIYer — This tool is much easier than C-Clamps. Especially recommend for larger, 2 or 3 piston setups. Tested on 2016 Subaru WRX (2015-2020 model)

Very good tool
I used this on the brake calipers of my '01 Jeep GC. It was simple to use and worked great. The longer pieces can easily be removed for use in smaller calipers. I noticed some of the reviews state that there has to be resistance applied to the tool to get it to open up wide enough. That is not true. One side has a spacer and the other side does not. You can spin the side that does not, and the width gets wider. You can turn it until it's just wide enough to insert. I think if the instructions were better then most users would see that their making the tool work harder than it has too. Some reviews state that it's too long and it doesn't fit their calipers. They should take a little more time to read the dimensions listed.

Comes apart easily.
Used it the 1st time on a Kia Telluride for front brakes only (rear brakes are electronic, these arent for electronic brake systems) and It worked great. Made the job so much easier. Used it a second time on a Honda odessey and it came apart on me quickly, a washer came off cause one of the plates to fall off. I put it back on without the washer so I can finish the brake job. Still usable I guess. But it makes the job so much easier and saves you some sweat. It has 2 different sizes, one for small brake calipers (guessing single Pistons, cars) and one for larger calipers ( guessing double pistons, vans, suv's, pickup trucks) which is cool. Cheaply made but still works.

For years o have just used C-Clamps to compress brake cylinder pistons. Truthfully I bought this as an impulse buy. After having used it though it works very well, a handy tool and easy to use. A great addition for the home mechanic. My only negative comment is that they could use a stronger magnet to hold the oversized plates for 2 piston compression, but it works very well regardless.
