Seems well made but no instructions and you'll need more parts
Appears to be well made but it doesnโt come with any installation instructions. Don't make the assumption based on that that installation is a snap. It's not. A lot goes into installing one of these ladders, and if you don't do it right you are going to be furious. The first thing you'll notice is that the included machine screws are too short to make it through your transom. Basically, from all I can tell, that's because the face plate and mounting substrate that comes with the ladder is meant to be used with a "transom extension bracket." Garelick Manufacturing makes a 2" one that Amazon sells that MAY work with this ladder's included face plate and mounting substrate. Just search for this on Amazon: Garelick Manufacturing 99181 Eez-In 2" Transom Mounting Extension Shim. I ordered one and need to confirm that the holes line up. This will make installation WAY easier. Trust me. I found instructions for installing one of these ladders without the extension shim, and the drilling is way more complicated. Lots more room for errors that could result in serious headaches. Anyway, after you get the extension shim, you'll also need to purchase a 4" x 8" sheet of 1/4" aluminum to use as a backing plate and some 5/16"-18 stainless steel flat head machine screws that are long enough to go through the Garelick extension shim (looks like around 1/8" thick) your transom thickness, and your backing plate thickeness. You'll know you have the correct length for the screws if you have one or two threads protruding beyond the stainless washers and lock nuts after they are tightened down. Obviously they need to be long enough, but you also want to avoid screws that are too long because, well, it just looks bad. Hope this helps!
