Scott Drake ACC-GANO-8 Radiator Coolant Filter

This is a must have for any classic car with a cast iron block!!! I am restoring a 72 Gran Torino that has been sitting in a garage for 12 years. I knew that the block and the water pump were filled with rust so I replaced the water pump, thermostat, thermostat housing, and heater core fitting because they were all rusted out. After flushing the block with all of those parts off put all new parts on. As a safeguard to trap remaining rust and help the radiator not get clogged I put this gano filter in and it works great! It has already trapped a bunch of rust. It is very well built and as long as you don’t Hulk tighten the clamps it won’t crack. The only thing I wish they did better is the cheesy metal wire that you have to use to tie the clamps together. Look at the pictures and see all the rust particles this has already trapped!

Overall, I like what the product does but I am subtracting a star just because it is hard to clean without getting messy. I have seen other styles of coolant filters which make cleaning the filter much easier, however they are not as easily available as the Gano. The Gano also probably wins out in the looks department.I purchased this to go along with an aluminum radiator replacement after seeing some debris blocking some cores in the old radiator. I have driven a couple hundred miles now and can see that this filter is already catching particles that otherwise would've ended up in the radiator, potentially disrupting flow. I am not exactly looking forward to cleaning the filter because it is likely to dump coolant everywhere trying to get it out.I would still recommend this product, just be aware that cleaning the filter is not as easy as other options.

Bought this filter after my radiator became clogged from engine scale. I went ahead and replaced the upper radiator hose at the same time. You remove a 1 1/2" of the hose to allow room to install the filter. The filter come just as shown in the photo and includes the necessary clamps and a piece of stainless safety wire that you wire between the two clamps as a way to help hold the filter in place. I've used these filters on other cars and have never had a failure. Wish I had installed this filter BEFORE my radiator became plugged.

I purchase this product online in July and did not get around to install it until this august. in the installation process I noticed that the outside housing had hairline cracks. The direction state to tighten by hand which I did but still notice the cracks and since this was going to be install inline with the radiator house and exposed to heat , i did not want to take a chance on it failing while driving. looking for warranty information from vendor as I waited to long to install for amazon warranty. Will follow up once I get a response from vendor or amazon.

catches larger chunks that could plug a tube, but doesn't filter fine particles. also difficult to clean

This is probably a little overpriced for what it is but it is everything advertised. It works well in my '81 Land Cruiser showing the water flowing through my upper radiator hose. It removes doubts about water flow or how clean the water is. I'd buy it again even at this price. It works.

Cracked during initial radiator hose fitment.And it would have only cracked eventually leaving me in trouble.Frail, fragile and overpriced.

Easy to install. Good quality. And it looks nice under the hood. But the most important thing; it keeps my radiator clean!
