Good writers tool

Valerie Howard's "Character Reactions from Head to Toe" is a great little gide to get you thinking beyond the flat reactions that all fiction writer's hit from time to time. Take each as a jumping off place and expand on the idea. You're bound to surprise yourself.

I liked how she advised to react with different body parts. It made me think more about the various ways I react in person

I thought would be filled with information, but it was five dollars worth just like the book cost!

This book is an essential tool for a writer. I keep it within arm’s reach at all times while writing. I love how it’s organized by body parts being described. I do wonder if the author could make a second version of this book or add a second section that organizes the reactions by the emotion the characters are reacting to. That would make an even greater tool to work with. Overall, it’s a must have! For an author such as myself who strives to continually improve their writing and show more than I tell, this was a god-send.

Trying to write a book, I find it extremely helpful to have lists of human bodily reactions handy (which are organized by body parts). That makes it easy to find words/phrases, I am looking for, without having to resort to google.

Great reminder, sometimes we don't want to become to stiff with the actions of each character. Great job be bless.

Nice to have handy when GMing an ttRPG & a word is on the tip of your tongue. Usually able to flip through the book & either find it or an appropriate synonym in 30 seconds or less.

I like how it covers lots of reactions of characters. It can be useful when writing about people, and helps to describe the way a person comes across in any given situation.

Valerie Howard's book is carefully planned and written to help authors find the phrase that a character needs when he/ she reacts. There's a checklist for body parts, like eyes, hands, lips and head. Rather than repeating something, this book is clever in its practical ways of creating possibilities for a writer. Reactions for eyelids, eyebrows and even toes give a clearer image that engages a reader. What characters do is the idea behind this gem.
