My copy of Mark Montano's Vision Box arrived on Friday, so I got to spend the weekend leafing through the pages, admiring the great photography, poring over the easy-to-follow instructions, and marveling at how he manages to fill this slender volume with so much creativity, inspiration, and joy. The book features 22 projects that you can recreate or riff on as your own muse carries you away. The instructions for constructing a couple of basic box shapes are clear and concise. And the themes he explores for each project are perfect jumping off points for doing as the subtitle suggests and "crafting the life of your dreams." The idea of vision boxes gets right to the heart of what it is to be creative, to be an artist, and to be a person who wishes to look more deeply into what makes life interesting, exciting, and beautiful. Whether you need to capture a great idea, chronicle a grand adventure, mend a broken heart, or simply collect your thoughts in a whole new, visually tantalizing way, Mark Montano has you covered in this book.

I recently heard about Mark. Very happy to be a follower. This book Vision Box is really wonderful. Love the Pocket Angel project using the Altoids tins. So many new ideas really gets your creative juices flowing. Thank you Mark.Sally King

Some of these photos were great, beautiful ideas, suitable for inspiration. But overall the book is amazingly thin and not at all what I was expecting. It is more like a brochure than an actual book.

not at all what i was looking for but cute book

I adore this book almost as much as I adore Mark Montano! In this book, memory keeping has been taken to the next level. As a former scrapbooker who got a bit bored with what there was out there - this has revolutionized how I think about crafting my family's memories. One of my favorite things about Mark's projects is that I don't need to go to a fancy scrapbook store, or even spend any money. Mark is the master re-purposer and uses things you probably have lying around the house. In addition, the step-by-step instructions and fabulous pictures make this book uber-easy to use! You will be the envy of your friends when you display this ingenous mixed media (my favorite of all crafting) vision boxes!

What can I say.....Im a Mark Montano fan! Which is why with this book...I now own 3, yes THREE of his books. I love em! And Im sure Ill continue to add onto the collection. Anyway.......this book is great and full of ideas on how to showcase what you love the most (In my case, I LOVE anything in the shape of a cupcake) or if want to commemorate someone. I love that he gives you ideas but then also shows you how to bring those ideas to life. With his books, you definitely esperience one of those..."Ooooh!! So thats how its done!" moments. Once you learn how something is done....theres no looking back! Hahaha But hey...dont take my word for it...give it a try! :0)

This 80 page publication is crammed packed with tons of fun step by step projects. Each project has brilliant photography and a list of things needed to complete the item being created. On pages 63-77 Mark has included Artwork & Patterns he used for the projects in this book. You can photocopy them and use them or you can stretch your imagination and use images that you find. I have two other Mark Montano books (The BigAss Book of Crafts 1 and 2), so when I saw that this book was coming out, I got a copy without hesitation. I'm so glad that I have it - I have already spent hours going through the projects and making notes and building a couple of my own vision boxes.Mark Montano makes these projects all so "do-able" with his quirky stories and tips. It's pretty hard to read this book and NOT get right into making your own style of vision box. With tons of ideas on how to start, what materials to use (including inexpensive options!), and how to put your own individual twist on your vision box, this book really makes this artform accessible to everyone. Skilled artists and dabblers alike will be inspired and gently guided into making their own vision boxes. Oh, I almost forgot to mention the photos in the book - EVERY project is photographed and detailed so that you really can follow the steps to create your own. Definitely a great book for anyone who loves mixed media!!

It was a useless book with very boring crafts. I would not recommend this book to anyone
