Now this is plug and play.....or burn,
This is no cheap toy, so don't let the price scare you. I plugged it into my Mac and it worked flawlessly and even axcepted my burner program I had with no problem. It is small so easy to take with you when you go. Only drawback I thwarted right away, is it lightness. It wants to jump when you eject a disc. I suggest you use velcro at home and jut put a little weight on the weight on it. I wedge it under the plug going into the computer. Nice thing is if it goes bad some time in the future it is cheap to replace.

Works.
I got this to replace an older Samsung burner before it quits. On an aging Mac Mini with El Capitan it burns and plays audioCD-RW in iTunes and burns data CD.After I learned to burn a .wav file as a data CD, that worked on an old version ofNero on (believe it or not!) Windows ME.On Debian Linux it played a CD (VLC). Later when I tried toburn a CD, it wasn’t recognized. I didn’t pursue it further.I’m sure it will work there, also, but I have some learning to do.My main use for it will be playing audio CDs.It seems well-made and I like the fact that it has a replaceable USB cord.

Works fine with my 2015 MacBook Pro.
I just bought a 2015 MacBook Pro and needed an optical drive to import audio CDs and software. This Lenovo does the trick. I plugged it into the USB port on the MacBook and it recognized it right away. I was able to import CDs to iTunes and install software without issue. It's much slower than an integrated drive, but it's not annoyingly slow. I have not used it to write CDs or DVDs yet. It's very quiet in use.The drive is a bit flimsy feeling, but it seems sturdy enough for the price point and moderate usage. I haven't noticed any rough edges or operational issues. The pop-out tray is sturdy. All in all... for the price, it's a great solution for moderate optical drive needs.

Nice DVD Burner
This is a great complement to my Lenovo laptop. It's very slim and easy to operate using the software provided. Burns a DVD very fast. About 5 minutes faster than using the DVD burner that came with the Lenovo using Nero. My only complaint was that the description listed on the product page is the size of the product IN THE BOX and not the actual burner. I bought a storage case based on the dimensions provided and it's too big. Didn't feel secure in placing the burner in the case for an out-of-town trip. But other than that, I'm very pleased with this DVD burner!

It Works Right Out Of The Box
What I liked about this drive was that I opened the box, plugged it in without installing anything and it started working right away. I primarily use my drive to burn CDs for work and the burn speed is the same as the drive I replaced (a good thing) and the program I used recognized it with no issues. My only concern is that it feels flimsy. Its lightness is great for portability and moderate usage, but if you burn like 30 CDs in a row a time like I do, it doesn't feel like it will be as durable as the more sturdy drive this is replacing. I feel like I have to be extra gentle with it when I'm putting in and taking out discs. While I've only had limited time to use it this far, it works as expected and am generally happy with it.
