Art of Howl's Moving Castle

I gave this book as a Christmas gift, and the recipient adored it. She is an animation student, so I knew I had to get it as soon as I stumbled upon it. I would recommend it to anyone that's a Ghibli fan or knows someone who is. It is sometimes text-heavy at times (it has the movie's whole screenplay included) but obviously still has more than enough images to be fun to look at. It is of a substantial weight and quality.

Bought this for my Grandson for Christmas and it's a Beautiful Book with great illustrations

I purchased this book as a gift for my girlfriend who is obsessed with all things Studio Ghibli. Howl has a very special place in her heart, and this book was the perfect gift. It is a well printed, hefty book of the variety that looks very handsome on the shelf, and the concept sketches, and blurbs (for lack of a better word) from the creators are fantastic. Extremely pleased with this purchase.

I bought this art book for my friend's birthday. She's pursuing a degree in Art (forget which field, it's either paint or animation) and LOVES Miyazaki films. I knew I was going to get her an art book centering one of his films, but not sure which one. So four or five months before her birthday, to avoid birthday present assumptions and guesses, I randomly asked what her favorite Miyazaki movie was. She said it was Howl's Moving Castle. Later that same day, searched Amazon and put it in my "Save for Later' section in my cart. When her birthday was a week away, I placed the order and waited it to come in. It arrived quickly and not a dent or scratch in sight. The book actually arrived two days before I needed it (the magic of using Prime shipping). So I had a checked to go through it, since I'm also a fan of the movie. It was a lot better than what I was expecting. I assumed it was just going to be filled with a lot of screen shots from the movie (don't get me wrong, it is 85% movie screen shots) with a little of concept art. In a few sections, various artist that worked on the movie explained how or why they did something a certain way. The two sections I found the most interesting was the CGI 1 and CGI 2 sections, both describing the use of CGI in the movie. Fast forward to when I gave this to my friend, and she absolutely LOVED it.

Perfect gift for my daughter in law who collects books. Is a beautiful book.

If you've purchased any of the other Studio Ghibli Library titles you know what to expect from this title, The Art of Howl's Moving Castle. It is hard back with no dust cover and 256 pages. The book is divided into the following chapters: Hayao Miyazaki's Concept Sketch Collection Concept Art, Background Art, Character Designs and Concept Sketches Final Screenplay Credits The images are gorgeous, printing is beautiful and this is a real treat to look at. The colors are quite spectacular and they've done an excellent job with printing. Highly recommended. ***Special Note*** If you are fan of Studio Ghibli I HIGHLY recommend you seek out the book, Studio Ghibli Layout Designs published by Studio Ghibli (I think). The book is in Japanese, but it doesn't matter much as only the first 5 pages are in Japanese and the rest of the book is just pictures. It's over 400 pages and nothing but layout designs (as the title suggests) from all the Miyazaki films. Gorgeous.

I bought this for a gift for a friend that loves Howl's Moving Castle. I bought one for my sister a few months before then at a bookstore, so I knew what to expect. All the art is beautifully displayed and explained by the creators. The script is in the back of the book and my sister and I often like to enact the scenes together. Both my sister and my friend loved the book, to the point of crying. A must buy for Hayao fans.

So many beautiful imagery! It even comes with the screenplay which is a bonus. A great gift for fans!

Es un libro muy belllo, sobre todo si te gusta mucho esta pelicula, el libro y la animacion de studio ghibli. Viene en ingles pero con saber basico se entiende perfecto.

Uno dei volumi artistici più belli da possedere. Vedere la nascita del mio anime preferito su carta è tutta un'altra storia. Perfetto per appassionati come me!

Es ist ein wirklich sehr schönes Buch, die Bilder sind gross und schön gedruckt. Die Qualität ist spürbar. Aber leider hat es nicht so viele Skizzen und andere Bilder drin, die ich mir bei den Anderen Art Of Büchern von diesem Studio gewöhnt bin. Es hat sehr viele Bilder drin, die direkt aus dem Film stammen, und nur wenig die man so noch nicht gesehen hat. Davon hätte ich mir so gerne etwas mehr Hintergrund gewünscht.

Ghibli hayranlarının kütüphanesinde mutlaka bulunması gereken bir kitap. Ayrıca çizimle uğraşanların da ilham alabileceği sayısız görseli de unutmamak gerek.
