I'm impressed!
I had never seen a slicer like this before, but curiosity got the best of me. I'm so glad it did. I use a lot of cheese and this slicer fills the bill.It is extremely easy to use, easier than any slicer I've owned. It slices right through the hard cheese, almost like it's butter. It slices more evenly than the other slicers I've had. One side slices thin and the other side thicker. If the wire starts to get loose, all you have to do is twist the top adjuster and it is nice and tight again. And did I mention it takes up hardly no space in the drawer? Doesn't get tangled up with other utensils, either.

It broke cutting soft gouda. I think that's not so gooda.
I can't figure out what cheese this is meant for. Maybe those little 8 oz blocks of rubbery, store-brand, mild cheddar? But the ad is all like "design!" so who is buying this that also wants to cut slices of garbage cheese? So we have this big wedge of Gouda which was too soft and sticky to cut with a knife. Perfect job for a wire slicer right? Nope. It was too much for this to handle. First the metal cap thing spun in the handle when cutting cheese so the wires weren't parallel to the rod any more. After much effort I got it twisted back as intended. That happened several times. Then the wire just broke. Reminder: I'm still cutting gouda, I didn't switch to parmigiano-reggiano. (Mild cheddar eaters, that's the thing the powdered toe fungus they sell in plastic cans next to the Ragu® is trying to imitate.)I've used this like a dozen times max. Just long enough that I can't return it. Not nearly long enough to be worth what I paid for it. -- I'm going back to the non-fancy variety I found at a dollar store once upon a time. I suggest you skip my experience and go straight for the inexpensive one instead of the cheap one.

Great replacement wire
Perfect-fit replacement wire for the Osti wire cheese slicer. The first time I used the wire cheese slicer, I loved the extraordinary idea behind it - the cheeses that don't crumble , but stick to flat-blade knife, can be cut perfectly and allow for a great presentation with the wire slicer.Wires do break. So, grab anew one, and keep cheesing! Replacing is not trivial (wife hates doing it), but I (3-degrees engineer) do it in 90-seconds-flat, so life is back on track, and whine (pardon, wine) is not cheese-less :)

I found the handle to my favorite, but
I found the handle to my favorite, but, unfortunately, broken, cheese slicer rattling around in my gadget drawer and through the magic of Google discovered it is a WMF Profi product. I did not find a seller for WMF brand wires, but these looked like they would work, so I ordered a set. They seemed slightly thinner than I remembered the old set being but I happily put the first wire on, got about four slices off a block of swiss cheese, and broke the wire. One of the comments I read advised you should not have the wire too tight, so I am leaving a smidge more slack this time and we will see how things work out.The original wire lasted many years and saw a lot of use, I am hoping for better results from the second try with the Osti brand. *fingers crossed*

Thick or thin slices
Works great on softer cheese like Pepper Jack - also good for blocks of cheddar. By angling the thin side, with a little practice you can get paper thin slices. Thicker side is good for hearty grilled cheese, etc. Seems durable, used it for months longer than the last Y-shaped slicers lasted.

Best cheese cutter in the world
Best cheese cutter out there. Had a similar one for 20 years that finally broke and I searched everywhere to find its replacement, and this is it!Added bonus, It fits in with the knives in the silverware drawer too.

Isn't Strong Enough
We tried the cheese slicer and the wire broke second time using it. The "knot" that is suppose to hold the wire in the tool for slicing cheese but the end breaks or pulls out easily rendering the tool useless. I will be returning the item.

Reinfall
Produkt entsprach nicht den Erwartungen. Aussehen enttäuschend . Oberste Kugel kaputt.

Poor quality
The wires have a small knot at each end to secure them in the slot of the cheese slicer. All of these wires failed after only a few uses - the “knot” is not strong enough to hold the wire in place. Totally useless!

Do it your self Draht
Ein Drahtknoten reißt immer ab! Lösung: Zwei defekte Drähte aneinander Zwiebeln, Drillstelle sollte am Umlenkpunkt liegen, dann wie üblich montieren, hält schon ein paar Monate
