Best
Teaching piano for almost 30 years. John Thompson books are best across the board. The John Thompson “easiest piano course” with the little monsters on it I use for my students no matter what the age; even adults, because the progression and teaching content is superb. When you get to books 5 & 6 it just gets better and better. These books are all top notch. After the 3rd John Thompson theory, I move to Keith smell book 3-10. It’s a perfect progression, and he delves into more advanced theory for the more advanced student.

This is the only drill book my daughter really loves
Even though it was published something like 80 years ago, this book is still fun and it works! If children are practicing their piano daily and also using the Note speller, they don't need tons and tons of theory drill, just a bit here and there. This book has nice thick tear out pages and really cute little elves explaining things, and the exercises are cute and interesting. Whenever I buy my daughter a big huge gigantic book to drill with, it ends up being overlooked, because she didn't need THAT much drill, and it's also overwhelming to her. But this book is just right. It can be used to supplement any method.

Fun Note-Reading Tool
I use these with a beginning piano student, I love that they are "games" and not worksheets, that usually goes over very well! It's helping with note-reading and also some note-writing skills. I use this along with note flashcards to get my student reading quicker. The reason I bought this was because I remember doing these "games" as a child when I studied piano. I looked forward to doing them, I felt successful. I was happy to see the book is still in print and plan to use it for all of my students!

Excellent!
This series is awesome for introducing elementary piano students to some of the basic concepts of music theory. It is necessary to compliment the practice with the theory in order to make a whole musician.

The book was ok, but it was mostly just the same activities and it was a bit advanced for a level two student.
