High quality valve, exactly as expected.
The valve installed without incident. It is a ceramic valve body that's easily removed. I did remove it prior to the install as I chose to solder in the threaded fittings to minimize any possibility of leaks due to the marble wall tiles on both sides. The heat could damage a seal, hence the precautionary removal. The handle could not be obtained in the -A traditional line (which is now discontinued but could be available through some sources). It still looks good when the styles are mixed.

Kohler needs to care more about their customers.
If Kohler did care, they would write a complete instruction manual for their products instead of leaving important details out. This is the case for their entire Mastershower line of rough in valves. In the case for the volume control valve, the manual speaks about the arrow indicating the flow of water, and to make sure you are installing it with the flow of water. What they don't mention is that in the instance when it is necessary to install it upside down to MATCH the direction of flow of water, that you are effectively reversing the "turn" on the handle, so what you expect to be off, ends up being on and vice-versa. There is no mention of an alternate cartridge reversing this, and don't bother trying to disassemble the cartridge to reverse the direction, because it didn't work when I tried. For a customer that ended up paying over $3,500 in Kohler parts, it's the customer that is paying for your product, so how about putting forth a better effort in your instruction manuals!Other than that, they seem solid... Oh, and make sure you use silicone grease and not regular valve grease when reinstalling the cartridges!
