Optimism and Happiness Boosting Ideas
This kindlebook Real Happiness Proven Paths For Contentment, Peace & Well-being by Jonah Paquette PsyD came into my awareness after I had purchased another title through amazon and this title was featured as one of the books that some customers ordered based on the purchase of a certain book that I purchased to see the title (I wish that I can remember which title for sure, it might have been a book relating to the soul). Anyhow, the following are some of the happiness boosting ideas featured. I admit that this review is a little in book report format because of a related goal that I have to read a certain number of books from now on and write some private summaries (in both the present books I already have that I plan to read and future book and/or purchases)to help me more thoroughly digest and apply some of the insights and concepts. The insights and concepts contained in Real Happiness include: the benefits of gratitude even in the face of challenges, focusing on at least three things to be grateful for daily (for instance I still have more to learn how I even express gratitude however the first thing that comes to mind is that I enjoy the area I am currently living in), obviously this kindlebook came out before covid though the authors explain why volunteering for a cause helps increase/boost happiness (obviously when feasible before andor after covid), taking time for meditation andor a meditation class whenever possible for greater happiness, forgiveness for greater happiness and why it is ok to avoid forgetting when forgiving, the path of optimism and tips for boosting optimism, bibliography, and more

Treasures to live by
This is a book full of treasures to live by. It distills much up-to-date scientific research in a very accessible, reader-friendly way and it points to a path that each of us can travel toward lasting happiness. The title “Real Happiness” does not refer to a superficial, shallow or fleeting kind of pleasant emotion, either. The happiness in this book is one concerned with positive emotions, engagement, and a deeper sense of meaning, purpose and connection in our lives. The author looks at seven scientifically proven principles that can boost our happiness levels. They include cultivating gratitude; kindness and compassion; Living in the Present Moment; Fostering Self-Compassion; Optimism; Strengthening Relationships; and Forgiveness. It was reassuring to learn how happiness can significantly benefit our health, our relationships, and our job performance, etc. There are exercises to follow at the end of seven key chapters regarding skills to practice. I love the clarity of presentation in this book. Happiness is a skill, I learned, and if we make an ongoing commitment to it, it will develop and grow. Along the way in this book there are wonderful, moving stories and meaningful quotations to savor. A work that has quotes by Lou Gehrig, Nelson Mandela, Epictetus the Greek philosopher, William Shakespeare and Lucille Ball confirms that you are in for a real treat. I strongly believe that this is a book that can help EACH OF US boost and maintain happiness in our lives. I give it my very highest rating!

Outstanding Book On Positive Psychology
Dr. Paquette has done a remarkable job of combining research and practicality in this book. The rationale for adopting a positive psychology perspective is clearly laid as Dr. Paquette's cites important yet fascinating studies of how happiness impacts our physical and mental health as well as how our brain reacts to this. Each chapter which covers different positive emotions also contains wonderful exercises which bring the academic citations in this book to life. Written in a breezy, readable manner this book is perfect for a professional or lay audience. If you are looking to incorporate positive psychology strategies in your work with patients or in your own life as well as understanding how this can benefit ourselves, then look no further than this book!

Easy to read and comprehensive, a wonderful resource
This small book pulls together the "cream of the crop" of current research in positive psychology, the science of happiness, and practices to cultivate well-being, and presents them in a format that is easy to read and easy to implement. Dr. Paquette writes clearly and with a very accessible style--the book is great for professionals but also for the lay reader. I can see it being helpful to anyone looking to cultivate their own well-being, but also a great resource for, say, someone wanting to run work-shops or programs in schools, colleges or graduate programs, to help young people build skills for living. The exercises could be adapted for many different age groups. Similarly, it would be great for therapists and coaches, to use with individuals or in groups. I'm a coach, and many of the works he draws on are on my shelves as "keepers"--he pulls the best of them together concisely, accurately, flexibly and in a way that is very practical. A real contribution to the field.

A helpful happiness primer
Nowadays, those who wish to embark on a positive journey face the challenge of choice. The advent of the positive psychology movement in the past 10-15 years has brought a wealth of knowledge to the public through a range of books, seminars, and talks. When taking your first steps, it is useful to have a piece of text that brings to you a summary of the latest research, the concepts that surface form it, and a set of practical daily exercises that can engage with. Real Happiness provides that exactly, making it a great starting point for a positive transformative journey.
