Powerful, Controversial wisdom - shared in confidence! But deeply relevant for today
Brilliant, realistic collection of wisdoms and bon mots. Particularly effective if you are familiar with Biblical scripture - but not necessary! Luther is blunt, coarse, unyielding, and forceful in his opinions - as you might expect from a man who singlehandedly took on the Catholic Church at the height of their powers! And it's NOT for the faint of heart - Luther includes edgy, irreverent, and highly controversial commentary here - bring your Big Boy Pants! And yet the book has a grounded, touching side - Luther was past his "angry stage", and had settled down with a wonderful wife, and six kids (he had been a priest/monk, and she a nun!) and this is literally a collection of discussions had around his dinner table over beers and food, with guests and friends. It's quite riveting to realize that most of these discussions are relevant today, almost 500 years later...and it's not a book to read all in one sitting - it fits perfectly in today's "magazine article" or "sound bite" attention spans and training. You won't miss a thing picking it up and putting it down at any time... I dare say it's even great bathroom reading! ;-) Highly recommended.

These are not quotes.
You must keep in mind, when reading this book, that these are not written by Martin Luther. These are things that people said he said.

It brings out Luther easy going nature
I am still reading this book. It brings out Luther easy going nature. He visit his neighbors and treated them as equals.

A little disappointed.
The books has 128 pages, and the size is a little smaller than A5. I give 3 starts because it is a photo copy version. A little disappointed.
