Very pleased with this one
Very pleased with this one! Works well, with no drips, leaks or other nasty surprises. The large fill opening seals well and the hose can be removed for storage, cleaning, or whatever. Great deal. And the tapered lower section really does make it easier to slip this thing down into hydration pouches on backpacks. Nice attention to detail and ease-of-use.I had to take a small knife and cut the mouthpiece opening a little, as it wouldn't fully open when bitten-into. But that took a whole 10 seconds of my time, so no complaints.

Great addition to our backpacks!
This is a great way to carry water. Those backpacks with 'built in' water supplies are more expensive. We have different sizes so can adjust how much water we carry in our backpack depending on length of hike etc. Much cheaper than others and we have used them on hikes. Replaceable mouthpiece was an unexpected feature. So if it wears out or you want to have someone else use it, just swap the mouthpiece. Good idea. No leaks and no problems.

Clues for Newbies
I just got a replacement for my 10 year old one, which had sprung a leak from the hose. That's a pretty good life span for something like this, so no complaints from me. But, I see a lot of negative reviews that sound like people just don't know how to use the thing properly.1. Remove the wrapper around the bite valve. It's clear plastic and not very obvious, but it needs to be removed.2. Most, if not all, of these bite valves will arrive with a pinhole size opening. You need to expand this opening if you want to get more than a dribble of water through it. Simply biting/squeezing it firmly should cause the hole to widen into a slit. Use a tool, if necessary, but don't split it wide open. You want the slit to be as wide as the valve.3. The blue "pins" in the bite valve go at the sides, not top and bottom. You are not trying to squeeze them together. They just keep tension on the cover, so that it doesn't collapse.4. Biting harder does NOT produce more water flow. It produces aching jaws and frustrated users. If you find your jaw aching from using this, you're doing it wrong, plain and simple. Easy does it. It's a bite valve, not a dog's chew toy.5. Sucking harder DOES produce more water flow, IF you're putting the correct amount of pressure on the valve in the proper manner.6. If you chew your valve to bits, or split it in half in step 2, the manufacturer will send you a new one. Free. Read the back of the bladder.Yes, it will make the water taste like plastic, at first, like every bladder ever made of plastic. If I remember right, I used a combination of overnight soaking, first with Dawn dish detergent, then with baking soda, followed by a lemon juice and water rinse, on my first one and it worked pretty well. Be sure to slosh each solution around in the bladder as much as you have the patience for, and run some of each solution through the tube (by hand... don't drink them). If you don't do the sloshing, it may be necessary to repeat the treatment if your taste buds are sensitive. I've also heard of using club soda and lime juice to soak it overnight. I haven't personally tried it, but it might be worth a shot as a substitute for the lemon juice step. The effervescence might help rinse out the baking soda.

Keeps me hydrated and my bag dry.
Flavor was 3 stars, not sure how it compares to others. Honestly every time I've had water out of these it tastes the same, so I'm not sure it's the fault of this thing. At this price, we change them out regularly, even if doesn't look like it needs to be done.

Versatile and Effective
A great stable bag for day hiking. I wanted something small and transferable between my Kelty backpack and my husbands Osprey slingpack. It worked well in both! Even though the small sling pack doesn't hold it upright the bag never leaked and always provided good flow. I didn't experience any plastic taste after doing a thorough initial cleaning.

Its much better than carrying a canteen
This is my first water resevior i have had so i cannot compair it to others. But it certainly holds water and comes with a bite cap that does not leak. The bag is 2 liters and is heavy when ful but basically weightless when empty. There is a plastic taste to the water that goes away after a couple of washes. No cons . Its much better than carrying a canteen. It soes have a wide screw top that sems like it would be esay to fill from a stream or boil pot. Very easy to fill from my sink. I guess this could hold any beverage you like but cleaning it after would not be fun. The material is more like flexible rubber very soft but feels durable . Not sad i bought it . It does the job.

Worked great!
I bought this for a February hiking/camping trip. It fit perfectly into my Osprey backpack and held plenty of water. I was worried that it might freeze, as it started to snow on us that night, but the next morning, it was still liquid. The bite tube is a little tough to figure out, but you get used to it very quickly.
