No, House should be without this if somebody living there has difficulty getting out of chairs. This is a wonderful item that can be adjusted to the weight of the individual. Works great!

For some reason, I hate to give this a bad review, but here we are. It looks reasonably well-made, but IMHO is overpriced. But much more importantly, it just didn't work. Even when set on the 200 lb setting for a 140 lb person, it really didn't "lift" at all; it just seemed to "follow her up." In other words, yes, it rose, but gave only the appearance of lifting; it didn't actually help my mother. I tried it and, again, the sensation was that it followed me up as I rose, but it didn't actually help any. We sent it back.

I think this is great, I have knee problems and this gives me the boost I need to get that upward momentum I need to get out of my wheel chair and my seat at home (I own 2 of these). The only problem I have found so far is the cover doesn't seem to hold up very well.

Seat cover shreds within a couple of uses. Otherwise okay. Not the best for recliner in my opinion due to having to put extra padding on legs to balance legs correctly. I think the extra large size should be a bit wider too.

I had knee replacement surgery and needed help getting out of my chairs that were just a bit too low to get out of on my own. This lift provides a comfortable assist as you lean forward to get up from the chair. Great investment.

A handicapped assistance for my husband who uses it to help himself stand up. Easy to use in restaurants, doctors offices, etc. Makes him feel independent.

I bought this to help post-surgically.I had surgery for an umbilical hernia plus adhesions from a prior surgery, and was initially very happy with the purchase.But I made a very bad mistake. Not thinking, I bent over in my chair to pick up my robot vacuum, to clean out the tray, and because of my movement, the lift mechanism engaged. Because I was already leaning over, it dumped me onto the floor. I was totally stuck, and couldn’t get up…this was one week post surgery. I don’t have family close by, but fortunately have a friend who has a key to my apartment, and knows how to lift people. He was able to come & help me…otherwise I would’ve had to call our emergency maintenance number to have them unlock my apartment, and call the fire department to help get me up off the floor. I was unhurt, but helpless.I haven’t used it since, and I’m past the return date, now.So if you *do* purchase one, be VERY, VERY, VERY careful with it!!!I would *NOT* recommend this.PS I was unable to return this in the timeframe allowed, otherwise I would have.

I got this for my 89 year old mom who has a lot of trouble getting out of chairs. I tried it out and it didn't work well to assist me with rising from a chair. I got the bigger one, thinking it would be better, but I didn't realize it should be purchased according to the person's weight. It is not recommended for use in a chair with wheels or a soft surface like a sofa. Since these are the type of seating that she uses, this will not work for her and I will be returning it.
