Texas Instruments TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition Graphing Calculator, Dark Blue

I had to purchase this particular model of calculator for my Statistics class, only I went with the color version strictly for the screen. I wasn't so concerned about the color graphing as much as the brightness and clarity of the screen. My last TI calculator was the old TI-81, and I spend more time squinting at the screen and adjusting the screen darkness (which still didn't help,) than actually using the calculator.As for function and expectation, this calculator did everything I needed it to do, from hypothesis testing, independent t-tests, paired-t, one-way ANOVAs, etc. Entering in the data into 4+ table columns is still a pain in the rear, but you will not experience anything easier short of when they have technology to brain link you to your calculator, and I'm not sure that would help considering how cluttered my brain is on any given day.Also, the software for this calculator is useful, especially the screen capture function. It makes creating notes for yourself, or pasting them into your assignments when work is required to be shown, a much happier experience.

Screen looks great in color. Some learning to do with this as with anything but is a great graphing calculator and has been the go too in graphing calculators. The case is the cover and protects the face of it. I have the 83 and it has lasted for years and is still going. The case protects the items fantastically. I Love this one because it is color and you can see things a little clearer in terms or graphing. If you are like me then this is what you want if you just want the functionality of a great graphing calculator then TI-83 might work just as well for you. As for me, this one is it.

Be advised, they are not shipping the calculator as shown in the images above. They send you a black and white calculator with a colored face plate instead. That is not mentioned in the advertisement, nor is the face plate the same color as shown. I specifically selected the "Dark Blue" model for the high contrast colors to make it easier to see the button labels. But I received light blue faceplate with green and pink lettering instead. Not at all high contrast.So now I am stuck with using the black faceplate or the bright blue one.The calculator is great. I love the display over my TI-84 Plus black and white. I find it much easier to read. Yes, it does plot a little slower, but that is due to the fact that there are more pixels to plot. I really like the way the math is displayed on the screen, just the way you would write it. The only thing I am not totally thrilled with is that it is rechargeable, It always makes me nervous to be tied to a charging cable instead of being able to carry an extra set of batteries, but so far after several hours of math homework it only dropped about 20% of the full charge. It does come with a wall charger with a USB adapter, so you can also charge it from your laptop or, PC

I get that it doesn't come with a charger. But if it would have at least been charged when I got it so I knew that it worked...that would have been Great. That would have also given me time to buy a charger that I didn't know I needed because I thought this took batteries ( my fault). However, doing us a courtesy and charging them would have been great..

Good calculator.

I bought the TI-84 Plus C Silver to just upgrade my lost old TI-84. The screen is a great feature, highlighting different graph lines and sometimes text. The shortcuts have been useful as well and they are fairly convenient to enter. The brightness adjustment, mode listings on the primary page, color display and upgraded UI make this a great purchase, but my favorite feature by far is that many of the functions you enter are typed in much the same as you would write them on paper (definite integrals, permutations, etc) making the display of equations easier to follow and understand.

It isn't bad. The calculator is functioning, does everything it is suppose to do. However, few places (including the screen) have scratch marks on it. The plastic cover is not the original one because it is a light/bright sky blue unlike the one shown in the picture (dark blue), so I think it looks kind of ugly because the cover and calculator does not match. I was kind of disappointed.

We purchased this calculator from Media Supplies Outlet through Amazon and were so impressed, first with the promptness in which the calculator arrived, then they supplied extra batteries free of charge and my daughter made a point of telling me how awesome her new graphing calculator was.
