I got this item because it came as a full set with everything needed to sharpen at a considerably lower price than other options. I received the item from Amazon but initially it was missing the flattening stone. I contacted the seller and they immediately responded and sent a replacement. Could not be happier with the customer service from the seller as they sent another full set of stones. The stones themselves come as a kit with instructions in case you have never used a sharpening stone and they do a very good job of sharpening knives. I used this to sharpen a Japanese knife that had been mistreated and it now works like new. The angle guide is a great plus if you have difficulty finding the right angle to sharpen at.

This stone works very well. Most of our knives at home couldn't cleanly slice a piece of paper in half, but after maybe 3 minutes of sharpening each knife, they glide through paper like it's nothing. Because of the dual side 1000 grit and 6000 grit, you can sharpen a knife and make a polished edge much quicker than if you were to use a carbide based sharpener or a single grit stone. We got this product about a month ago and we haven't needed to use it again for most of our knives. Also, the fixing stone is a very nice bonus to the actual sharpening stones themselves.

The 1000 grit is outstanding, but the 6000 grit stone is very soft. But this is still a good value.

Yeah, there's a learning curve involved, but once you become a whiz at using this stone, your knives will be razor sharp.Keep in mind that every stone that looks like this, is the SAME stone! The only difference is the price you'll pay, based on brand name recognition. Don't be a sucker. Get the lowest priced stone set.

For a number of years, I've used a Smith's Tri-hone set. It's done a nice job, but....Then I watched a video on Amazon where this guy is using this stone set and another one similar to it to sharpen some knives, and I was hooked on buying one, ....or six. I decided to get this one first, and am thankful I did. Although the 15-minute water soak is a bit annoying, as far as a time thing, big deal. When you start in on a high-carbon-steel Case your wife has used for 10+years, and you can just feel the difference that stone is making on the blade, it's well worth it. It took about 30 minutes for the 1st time, but that blade went through a watermelon so easily, I was smiling like crazy. When my wife used it the next day, I heard an exclamation from the kitchen, saying how #$@& ing sharp her Case was, and how it's never, ever been THAT sharp! So, there ya go. Never, never use the wheel on a can opener, if they still make 'em. Get one of these, practice learning, and sharpen your own damb knives. Learn! It's fun!

This stone is great for keeping a good edge on your knives. I’ve bought much more expensive stones that work just as well, but they get a lot of use in our restaurant and we replace them every 6mos or so.

I've had a hard time getting an edge on my blades until I got this. With a little practice and patience, my knives are nice and sharp.
