No better marinade for both beef and chicken
What this does to steak and chicken is unreal. You must try it! Delicious and very much worth the expense.

Excited to get this in America
I used to use this Shiokoji in Japan and used to bring it back from Japan. I absolutely love it and am so happy that I can buy it in the US. The packaging makes it easy to use and store. I usually use it to grill salmon, just spread some on top (a little bit goes a long way!) of the salmon either just before you grill it (I use an air fryer) or marinate it 10-15 minutes before - no need to add any sauce or seasonings afterward. The Shiokoji creates this beautiful, flavorful crust. Shiokoji can also be used for meat (chicken, pork, beef) - makes the meat very juicy - as well as vegetables or just to season dishes. There are lots of recipes on the internet to try. If you want to specifically search for Japanese recipes use 塩こうじレシピ in the search bar and use Google Translate to translate the recipe.

Great product
Love this for a dry aged type flavor on steaks. Just be careful in choosing cooking methods. Steaks color rapidly after use when searing. Recommend sous vide or reverse sear.

This takes getting used to and I didn't notice a huge difference.
I might give it less stars, because I did not notice a tremendous difference in my beef. It also imparts a strange flavor that is not aged beef.

Just grilled some steaks that were marinated overnight with this. Best steaks I had in a long time.

What a great tenderizer for tougher cuts of meat.
Have been experimenting with how long to marinate meat with this stuff. Even just a few hours will make things much more tender, but do it for a couple of days and it's amazing. The flavor is also excellent, tastes a bit like dry-aged as others have said. Also, it doesn't take much - just coat the meat, like you were rubbing olive oil on it, then wrap in saran wrap or throw it in a zip-loc baggy. So this small container lasts a long time. Will definitely buy again.

Awesome fro Marinating steaks! Love the earthy umami flavor it brings to beef! *** UPDATE Still tastes great but the seller just upped the price $3. That is a 40%increase in one month. Found another seller with same original price just have to order two which I normally do anyway. Lowering to 3 stars.

An Amazing Product!
We put this on chicken thighs for 6 hours, then baked them at 375F for 45 minutes, and they were some of the best roasted chicken we ever ate. Great product!

I saw this being used on a cookery program and yes marinating the chicken in it and washing it off before cooking is good very good xxx
